I usually act silly and 'social' around my friends. =|

Not that it fools them very well, but still.

How do you know they aren't putting on an act? I do, maybe it's not the best thing to do, because I am seriously depressed at times, but sometimes...it's just...a habit. I do it because I don't want people to know, people to worry. I can go listen to The Smiths/Morrissey and I'll feel better, so I can once more go and reassure everyone I'm okay for the moment.

=| So please, spare me.

Listen to the Smokey Robinson song 'Tears Of A Clown'
If there's a smile on my face
it's only there just to fool the public

I have a friend at work, nice house, nice husband, nice kids..... on the inside she is burning with so much disatisfaction. All her friends and family think she has it all, everything in the garden is rosy. Well there are a lot of thorns in her garden when the curtains are shut and the kids are in bed....

Don't judge a book by it's cover.

Super smarmy...before he was dancing, he was working for his dad's plumbing business running the power rodder. True story. I used to work in Orland Park at the mall there when "Lord of the Dance" was really big and he came to our store to promote it on video. He was such a tool.

Who are you to determine who is a real fan or not? Maybe they are hiding their true feelings when in public or maybe they just have good taste in music. As long as they buy the music, concert tickets and are satisfied then they are real fans.

My soundtrack consisted of disco and pop but I distinctly remember being transported to another dimension of sheer bliss by Donna Summer's "I Feel Love". Many years later I discovered that I was really responding to Giorgio Moroder. (Or so I tell myself now.)

Far, far too many to name but yes "Top Gun" tops his discography. Giorgio would've sounded so much better doing synthpop for David Gahan or someone like that, but then again, maybe not-- something about his music just screamed out for Donna Summer and Kenny Loggins.

I'm just glad he was around for New Order to rip off.

Yeah, the closer I got to downtown, the fuzzier the reception got. Still, I was ecstatic to hear some Smiffs on the radio.

A few years ago, my step-sis and I went to Just For Fun Roller Rink in McHenry. It was a blast. Funny how the rink seems so much bigger when you're 8. Ok, so I just surfed and found a place called The Rink at 1122 E. 87th Street. We'd be the only white chicks there. You in? :D

You're not too late since it goes til 1 am. But I decided not to go on my own because I have two assignments to finish and an appointment in the morning tomorrow. I already drove out to Alhambra for no good reason because I was told the wrong day for a meeting. I don't feel like burning through more gas today.

I also want to get my own pair of skates before I brave those wooden floors again. Those rentals hurt my ankles. Just no support whatsoever. Besides, tan boots aren't very goth, Azrael! :p I'm gonna get some black oldschool quads.

The gothskate is the 2nd Monday of each month. Barring work, I'll see you in April. I'll pm you when the time is nigh. Feel free to remind me in April as well. Alright, doney86! Sweet dreams...

Speaking of which and our discussion of skating, last year I had this dream where Moz and I were iceskating (http://forums.morrissey-solo.com/showthread.php?p=621861#post621861). And then later in 2007 Moz slid around the stage in Merrillville like he was skating. In the Lille boot, you can hear Moz changing the lyrics to "I've skated all over the place" in I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris. I'm sure it's all a coincidence, but it makes me smile every time I hear him singing that lyric change about skating.

I had planned to go to wumpskate after one of the Hollywood Palladium gigs in October, but I was too sore from the crush at the barrier to go. Besides, I had to queue overnight. :(

I like how we all fulfill the stereotype of the fun-loathing, humourless Moz/Smiths fan. ;) I still think all disco must end in broken bones, though. :p

The type of fans who always listen to Moz/Smiths, but really can not relate to the music, because they are super social, happy all the time, while listenin to 'unloveable' I really dislike those nasty fake fans

i think they should be stripped of all thier clothes, skinned, doused in salt and vinegar, dragged behind a car for a mile, thrown into a rusty box and dropped down the side of a cliff then picked up by the local fish monger who will use his salted body as scraps for the local fish shop foiling the oh so unsepecting villagers of the night who crawl into the shop, half drunk and sullied from a big night out..

lol, no problem :D it is really under-used though isn't it! i love the word. It feels like a word Morrissey might like to use i think. Although i may be just wishful thinking there, that he may at all be on any wave-length of my own.

I think it's good to like a plethora of music, but at the same time realize theres a place and time for certain kinds. you don't have to take everything so seriously, and that goes for music too. shit dude, I'll get down to Justin Timberlake, the Monkees, and Michael Jackson, whatever dude. but at the same time I'm not gonna be like "omg, these artists changed my life" and devote the time and money, etc. to them, like I would to someone like Morrissey. that make sense?

Exactly... That reminds me I have another DMB show that I should post.

Depending on whether or not I am going to teach summer school I was thinking of going up to Saratoga Springs or down south to go see them.

I like how we all fulfill the stereotype of the fun-loathing, humourless Moz/Smiths fan. ;) I still think all disco must end in broken bones, though. :p

THis goffs-on-wheels discussion is drifting away from the thread author's original intent, I think :p But this video below is still relevant to Moz and goffs-on-wheels. The rink featured in the video below is the same one I visited last week. Mozzolo contributor Jake-the-stripper sent the link the morning after I was in that very rink. Oh and there's a line in the rap that specifically mentions Morrissey:
http://www.youtube.com/v/xfNluQ888g4&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0

i also recognised the old skool "classic video games" machine -- was going to play Ms. Pacman last time but got distracted -- the toilets, the lockers, the glow-in-the-dark air hockey table, the disco ball, and the darkened rink. I thought the rink was dark because of the goffs, but it seems from that viddy that the rink is just always darkened. There were two glass cases full of antique skates and old cameras near the skate rental counter. One of my skating buddies remarked how this place looked like it hadn't changed since it opened, probably in the 70s.

The previous wumpskate, there was a guest dj who played poppier goff/industrial selections and even some Britpop like Suede's "Darkstar". When I request it, they'll play Morrissey and Smiths, but they usually only have the "hits" on hand. I'll have to burn them a cd with "Jack the Ripper" and some other songs on it.

I didn't know it, but the taco guy at wumpskate makes vegan tacos, too. I was too full from bean burritos to try it last time, but I'll try it next time.

I told doney86 about this viddy and suggested that Moz should shoot his next video at this rink and use the goffs as extras. Then she wrote, "Since Moz is a fan of those pied-piper-like videos, it would be funny to see him circling the rink w/ the band behind him."

that video had nothing to do with morrissey at all, cept for the .23 second mention of his name, but I always thought Simon Rex was kinda cute. :o

1st. People are full of contradictions.

2nd. Artists like Morrissey make music for everybody that needs to listen to his music. He doesn't select his fans, if he was interested in making music for a niche audience his music wouldn't be as good as it is.

I will make you an e-autograph.

I am not keen on "fans" that think they know every thought that Morrissey has.
You're just jealous. :p
