I've seen "Meat Is Murder" spray painted on a local meat shop. Was going to take a picture of it but by the time I returned with the camera, it was being painted over.

There must be lots of pictures taken at the Iron Bridge, Kings Road, Stretford, which is full of graffiti.

I snapped photos (back in the day before digital cameras) at Oscar Wilde's tomb at Père-Lachaise in August of 1991. I remember reading an interview quote around this time when Morrissey said he had never been to Oscar Wilde's tomb because he would find it too emotional for him.

I think the words are visible, but just in case you can't read them, above the Moz profile are the lyrics "Why do you come here? And why do you hang around?"

Someone had also scrawled "Smoke lingers 'round your fingers" on the back of the tomb.

Every couple of days, supposedly Wilde's tomb is scrubbed from of the graffitti, but the graffitti is dated June 1991. However, a couple of days after I snapped this initial photo, the tomb was scrubbed clean.

interestingly : when moz was asked about the graffiti in an interview 2004on wildes tomb ...he said that he dont mind that there is graffiti on it he said he love the fact that wilde and he are connected through that way..and mentioned a book he bought where there was a pic of wildes tombstone included where the morrissey graffiti was vivsible in it... the interviewer is serge simonart and it appeared in humo magazine a belgian magazine and it also appeared in german free mag WOM ( i dont know which one came first/which one got translated) but a very interesting interview with some unusal questions...i must say nonetheless i found it quite obscene..would rather prefer leaving a letter or lay down some lilies...and i dont know what moz thinks nowadays...about the graffiti on wildes tombstone
http://www.morrissey-solo.com/article.pl?sid=04/05/19/1744201 just a short anouncement about the humomag release but i see no transcipt..neither of the german one...hope i will have the time to translate it but my english translation might sound twisted...

another pre-digital photo from pere lachaise cemetry
it reads manchester so much to answer for above
& morrissey keep in touch
signed william if memory serves
circa 1986 methinks
culled from mix tape cover i made for a special someone
did you know legend states that the custodian of the cemetry has the balls & phallus from the tomb's angel as a paperweight
the jacob epstein sculpture was deemed obscene by a crazy person who chipped em off!

I remember pics with grafiti on Wilde grave, but the 3 times I've been
there, 1st time may 1998, 2nd september2001, 3rd okt 2002...the grave
was as clean as it should be

all 3 times there I was about the only one who sat longer than
the usual Pere Lachaise visitor, most of them walk by, all 3 times I sat
at least 15 minutes before the grave

I think becaue Wilde's grave is way other side at the cemetry, you
can better enter the cemetry at the other side, Wilde is buried almost
at the beginning from that side

and don't forget to look at the back side of the grave, where Robert
Ross, Wilde's best and faithfull friend , ashes are buried in the Epstein grave and a copper
plate , which you have to look for yourself
I mean Ross is buried in Wildes grave but on the back side

I don't know about you, but I do that more than twice per day. It's shameful, I know, but I can't help myself.
