Thanks for the link. Initial impressions. Very good ‘fish supper with brown sauce-Saturday Night-Sauciehall Steet’ vocals.

‘Daddy’s Gone’: Moving ‘Fathers 4 Justice’ / McDonalds Sat afternoon Dad lament seen through the eyes of battered, embittered ’son’:

‘ Forget your dad, he’s gone….’

Like the twist in the tale of ‘Geraldine’. Poverty Pimps Inc, etc
“my name is Geraldine, im your social worker”….Very droll.

Like the ‘My Bloody Valentine’ / Mazzy Star- Spector-esque wall of surround-sound guitars. Spiritualized?
I’ll investigate further at their 7th Feb date in Brum and report back.

However, must say to GlasVegas:

Why not stay ‘On Message’? I have next to me The Complete Series 1-5 ‘Still Game’. Isn’t that how we, down south, like to keep Glasgow in it’s place? Surviving against all the Easterhouse - still - a - shit - house - after - all - these - years type challenges?
Oh well. You had your chance, Glasgow. You were the European City of Culture. Now it’s Liverpool. Sorry. But ‘That’s Life!’
If things get really glum: You can always move to Brum. And straight home again on the night coach….here be monsters!

i have seen them a few times they have really came on in the past year , they update their myspace site alot and often ask if anyone wants guest lists to their shows , alan mcgee (their manager) has been singing their praises for the past year . you can down load their tracks from thir myspace site alot as well and they seem to let you download when they put up new tracks

the only issue i have with them is that the NME adores them and when that happens to small bands bad things happen

I saw them supporting dirty pretty things a while back, they were entertaining. The drummer a rather curvy lass had a bosom that would not stop jiggling and I felt a bit like a pervert as I could not look at anything else, hypnotic It was.

There is nothing, I repeat, NOTHING, wrong with watching jiggling tits.

BTW, send some love my way, I have a knackered back and want to be at the S&G. Hey ho.

Brown sauce? That's an Edinburgh thing!

I'm a sucker for any new Glasgow band so I'm almost certainly going to pick up the album but if one thing would put me off any band it's the involvement of Alan McGee. I cannot stand that man.

Oh and Easterhouse is still a shithole, they have just added some 21st century dispair over the old type in the form of a mall.

To be fair they weren't really signed to a label he just put out a couple of pieces of vinyl for them, a short term distribution deal to bridge the gap. Anyway they just signed to Columbia on the 15th and are starting the album sometime around now.

I got this from their myspace modrevolve, it sounds like it's just the Boston gig that has been postponed at the moment if thats any help.

Hi Everyone
We are sorry to announce that due to James' Work Visa not being processed in time by the US Embassy we've had to reschedule the Boston Show to 5th January 2009. We hoped it would arrive this morning UK time and James could fly in direct to Boston but we just learned that it will now arrive Tuesday morning. This is also why this announcement is so late in the day as we hoped his Visa would arrive Monday and we could still make this gig. We are really sorry for any hassle this causes and all tickets for the new show will remain valid.

I've fallen in love with their music, and I would really like to hear all the stuff they've released, and not just the CD and the forthcoming Christmas album. So, here are my requests, and I hope someone will be able to help me :):

( Quote from Wikipedia: )
They toured frequently from 2001 to 2006 around Scotland, releasing a limited edition double A-side single, "I'm Gonna Get Stabbed"/"Ina Lvs Rab" on CD in November 2004.

Anyone got these songs/versions?

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Various non-album tracks:

"Legs 'n' Show"
A Little Thing Called 'Fear'
"Come as You Are"
"Be My Baby"
"Geraldine" (Instrumental) - 4:06 (from a promo single)
"The Prettiest Thing on Saltcoats Beach" - 6:19
"Everybody's Got to Learn Sometime" - 4:54

What about these then?

-------------------------------------------------------------------

( Quote from Wikipedia: )
The album was released on 8 September 2008, and included re-recordings of "Daddy's Gone", "It's My Own Cheating Heart That Makes Me Cry"

The "original versions" of these two songs, anyone?

-------------------------------------------------------------------

"Daddy's gone" also seems to have been released as a Digital download EP, and I was wondering if someone has got the acoustic version of the song which is included in that EP?:

Digital download EP

"Daddy's Gone" - 4:25
"A Little Thing Called 'Fear'" - 3:43
"Come as You Are" - 3:22
"Daddy's Gone" (Acoustic) - 4:17

-------------------------------------------------------------------

If you've got any of these songs, could you please upload them onto some site? Yousendit, for example. It'd be much appreciated. :) Thanks in advance!

I think alan mcgee says they we're the best scottish band since jesus and mary chain which I think is true but scotland hasn't had too many bands that you could say were great. I adore them but I dont know i think it'll be difficult for them to go in a differnt direction for the second album
