I love Rik Mayall in almost any context. I love his very early stint as "Kevin Turvey" in A Kick Up The Eighties, I love him in "The Young Ones" and I love him in "Bottom" :D


Halfway through my post, I re-read your question and interpreted it differently, I think I got it wrong the first time. Are you asking, is he the only one out of the Young Ones that we like? Well, I think Ade Edmondson has his moments as well (Vyvyan, Edward Elizabeth Hitler, etc).. he was particularly funny during the Bottom: Live tours that I have on VHS.

When I used to work in that crappy Supermarket that Jamie Oliver advertises (and slags off) Ade Edmunson and Jennifer Saunders often used to come in, but never Rik, despite him living close by in Devon too.

Wish I had a pic of him! He was always my very favorite Young One. I sort of remember this poem he had for the hippie, Neil- nah, gone from 20 years ago! I remember Neil making a huge pot of lentils and (wasn't he always making lentils?) and he was hanging by their squat or whatever, trying to stop the destruction of it.
