Not Right in the Head December 25, 2007, 07:16 PM I got five little poop-shaped cell phone straps. Yep. And some appropriately sarcastic t-shirts, The Songs That Saved Your Life, some other books, movies, & CDs, and, incredibly, the Patti Smith book that jose offered for free a few days ago (http://forums.morrissey-solo.com/showthread.php?t=81546). It's hardcover and in perfect shape, and he even threw in some Ringleader badges and a postcard. Thanks a million, jose!

Ouch! I could send snapyou over with some ointment, but that might get awkward.

You'll have to ask my kids. They thought that the poops were the funniest things evar, presumably because the twins are going through a phase where "poop" is their favorite word. The things are pretty cute, admittedly; two of them even have little bells in them. When Mrs. NRitH tried to order them, the store was completely sold out, so she had to track down some store in Japan to have them ship that shit over here.
The kids hung them on the tree like ornaments. :D

Sounds horrible. Were you boiling water for tea? I know that drinking can be really harmful, but that's not quite the harm that I was envisioning...

For the curious, or the scatologically-inclined, here's a pic of one that's similar enough to the ones I got. Mine have little faces on them, though, which, depending on how you look at life, is even funnier or even sicker. For me, it's both.

PregnantForTheLastTime December 25, 2007, 08:16 PM Well, I'm bummed. My check was only for $16K. I must have been a bad girl this year... oh, wait. Yeah, I was.
I got a Vera Bradley tote bag, a large antipasto gift basket from Dean and Deluca, a vegetarian Italian cookbook, and an etching by Elyse Ashe Lord, an English artist from the 50's.
I think I'm going to go make a cocktail.

Buzzetta December 26, 2007, 08:16 AM Sure.... I will participate.
Not to sound sappy but it was nice to see the remaining family that I have.
Now on to the loot. (Dave this is for you if you are reading this - Biggy "Gimmee the Loot" http://www.sendspace.com/file/fqpbaz)
The parents bought each of their children shares of stock. I received shares of Coca Cola this year so everyone drink up. Socks, Mickey Mouse Christmas ornament, Chocolate Chip Cookies and a reproduction of a classic wooden Fischer Price toy Duck.
Others - This year's Hallmark Lionel Train Ornaments, Yankee dufflebag filled with NY yankee things like Yankee PJ bottems, shirt, an additional cooler dufflebag for my adult beverages when going to AC and other yankee nick-knacks such as a mini replica stadium. woo hoo.
Yes NRITH I received some Marvel items. The Marvel Vault scrapbook reviewing the past almost 70 years of Marvel Comic Books and I book of odd information called "Why Men Have Nipples"
Santa brought me a limited edition signed copy of Amazing Spiderman #544 signed by Stan Lee for my Spidey collection. Only 30 were signed - I received 30/30. Apparently I was the reason it became sold out.

After gift exchange with the family... my cousins and I had some fun with the xbox. I brought it and hooked it up to the internet as we vanquished online foes in Halo and other games.

nugz December 26, 2007, 02:56 PM gloves and matching scarf. the tip of my finger slammed in the car door. my uncle telling me that my haircut was sending me to hell. and 5 lbs extra weight on my ass.
the end.
Skinner December 26, 2007, 03:05 PM Nugz, why is your hair cut sending you to hell???
I got "Morrissey in Conversation", a bottle of the cologne, an Elvis calander and coffee mug, a Warhol shirt, Harry Potter 5, new plugs for my ears, lots of candy, a wonderful plaid coat, the Nirvana box set called "With the Lights Out", and a few other things. I made out well thanks to my bf. My parents were poor this year so they only got me a couple things. I feel more than blessed though. But next year all I want are certs. stating "A donation has been made in your name..."

That's great & very charitable of you
This is all my parents ask us to do each year for them (tho I do get a small material gift for them as well). This year I bought my Mom 2 flocks of chicks from Heifer Int'l (world hunger & poverty), and for my Dad, I donated to the Wm. J. Clinton Foundation (peace & int'l relations). For myself, I always donate to the Anti-Cruelty Society. For the obvious reasons but cuz I'm forever indebted to them for my most awesome cat :)

Its so nice to see that people do these things around Christmas time because they want to. When I told my friends and bf this year that I didnt want anything next year except donations etc, they looked at me like I had 5 heads. But I'm serious. I think its the best gift to give. Meaning, to give to those how REALLY NEED things. Don't get me started! haha

If you want me to beat him up with a rolled up picture of the Pope, I'd be more than happy to.
Um...I was saying that I really didn't want anything this year and it looks like my family was more than happy to oblige. LOL
I quite possibly got the weirdest and most random gifts evar! Seriously, I got a package of white tube socks, this $10 combo package of deoderant, cologne and aftershave that smells like turpentine, a colinder set (I'm serious...which is scary since I rarely cook), a can of air freshener that lasts up to one hour! and a bottle of body wash, shampoo and face soap (yes! it works as all three!!!).
I did manage to steal the leftover lasagna and canolis from my grandmother's house though so I had the last laugh. bwahahaha! :o

LOL ~ that just made my day. Love it.
I didn't get much and I didnt want much either but to spend Xmas at home (last year we were 'homeless' at the holidays living in friends basements while our house was being gutted)
My best present was ‘gift to self’ (no, not Dora the Explorer! :D) – new DR furniture. Also, my daughter went ‘shopping in her room’ for me and gave me her rubbery (‘One’) bracelet and wrote in a card about how much she loves me and that I’m the best Mom, etc. It’s the little things that mean a lot.

I forgot, I did get the cologne! Thanks for reminding me! I was reading what people got for Christmas and, though I said I didn't want anything, I was like "damnit, I want $2,000!" hahahaha
My father ordered it for me online last week and is having it scent to my house. (haha...scent! um.....yeah...sorry :o) It's on back-order though...but I should be smelling pretty damn good in 2 weeks or so.

I'm glad you got to spend you Christmas a home. :) And you're right, it is the little things that mean alot. An old debt caught up with me on the 22nd and I discovered I would be flat broke for Christmas...but I still managed to have a pretty nice holiday despite that. So I can't complain.

Morrissey the 23rd December 26, 2007, 10:30 PM A third testicle.
Well, actually a lump. I'm annoyed about this problem because I've been to the doctor three times this year complaining of about a sore testicle and wondering if I have cancer. Once the doctor said I may be hypocondriacte. I said, 'Oh no! Not that too!'. From internet research, I think I have a cyst on my epididymis. I have an ultra sonic scan booked for early in the new year, with scrotal testicular surgery likely to follow. Sounds painful huh? The check up at the hospital was performed by an incredibly gorgeous woman. This made it easier to my shallow mind. I tell you, you don't know where to put your hands during the check. I thought it would have been rude to hold her head. Actually, that is only part in jest. It wasn't an arousing experience at all but to finally find out what is causing the pain and to start thinking it is something other than cancer is a relief. It's changed my views on suicide! There is a vas deferens between one and the other
Buzzetta December 26, 2007, 10:46 PM Did you leave the gun?

I wish I could have found a better photo...but you'd be surprised the images that come up when you Google "horse's head"
Now if you'll excuse me...I'm gonna go vomit. :(
I just did... we must be on different servers as I just found out they make horse head plush toys. With an x over the eye and a red "stump" if you will. Cool gift for a friend that thinks he is in the mob.
JoyDiv007 December 27, 2007, 03:46 AM I recieved XM radio, 6 bottles of wine, gift cards to Borders, Best Buy and Barnes and Noble, along with cash and a few checks. My brother got me a really lame t-shirt that I'll never wear. He usually gets me great stuff too.

Dave December 27, 2007, 06:02 AM One person I work for sometimes gave me a $20 giftcard. Then she says "the kids took some cards that didn't get charged, so you'll have to check that card before you use it."
Theo December 27, 2007, 09:28 AM i got a toaster from my mom and gift cards for GAY CREW,starbucks, and saks fifth avenue. my gramma gave me an opal and diamond ring from the 1940s AND the DELUXE dvd of that tom hanks movie about jesus and the freemasons as a bonus she got me the largeprint paperback book by dan brown just in case i dont understand whats going in the movie! so my mind is totally blown. my uncle got me an IPHONE which i tried to pawn off on my mom for 50 bucks but she basically told me to go to hell :( um and then i also got some lovely candles from the YANKEE CANDLE company. these came from my uncles new girlfriend!! my mother let out a little yelp when i cracked those bad boys open. my niece made me a mixed cd and it s got a lot of rihanna songs on it ! and i got an assortment of winter woolens. and thats it . oh and i got an industrial sized bag of pistachio nuts and some peppermint ribbon candy which i totally want to eat but cant cos ive brushed my teeth.
merry christmas everyone!
I think very low of people who give me gift cards. If you're gonna do that, just give me freaking CASH so I can spend it where I wanna.
I got mostly clothes, including a very nice cashmere sweater.
My favorite gifts were a Nintendo WIIIIIIIIIII and this adorable silver sculpture from Italy of three monkeys doing the "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" thing. This was inspired because me and my mom have gotten addicted to visiting the crazy, lovable, playful spider monkeys at the Cleveland Zoo over the last year.
What made me feel best about Christmas, however, was doing the Christmas shopping for my friend who is unfortunately in county jail over the holidays (she's a drug addict and is dealing with three felony drug possession cases...). She hasn't come through much for her family on Christmases past, and her family wasn't expecting a thing. It was touching to arrive last week bearing the gifts she chose, with a cell phone connected to her in jail. For part of this event, however, she was in lock-down (they haven't taught her good manners, I'm pleased to say!) and we had to communicate by relaying through her friends in her pod. An hour later they let her out of lock-down, though, and she could speak direct. :) As a result she is now in better communication with her sister, with whom she had not been speaking with for quite some time. It also looked like it meant a lot to her daughter. So, I felt good about all this, but it's also pretty sad when one of your friends is locked up over the holidays and you can only see her through glass. :(
mauve21 December 28, 2007, 01:17 PM A giant box of Cadbury chocolate biscuits from my son's best friend's father.
Series 2 of the Mighty Boosh and Series 1 of Black Adder from my son.
A new diary from myself......
that's about it 'cause now I've spent all my money on my son's Christmas presents and being a mother is all about sacrifice!

I didn't want a dog after i had to have my last labrador put to sleep, he was a very old man....14....and he couldn't get up, his back legs went. :(It was such a painful time, but now i have her i wouldn't give her up for anything, she eases the pain.
slum mum 1974 December 28, 2007, 02:59 PM So you sold all the children and got a cute doggie ( i don't blame you). Merry Xmas:p
Mr Eshah, it's not just for xmas, it's for life, you know!
Merry Christmas, sweetie, i have missed you :)
I sold all my kids and the other half, but i didn't get much, i still had to pay loads for her.......:D
That is very true, but in all seriousness, he took a huge risk on getting her without asking me, but i do love her to bits, she's my baby

My cat died last year, aged 15, well, he was put to sleep. He spent the last 2 or 3 years of his life seriously ill. I still don't regret anything about him, and would still take him, knowing that the first years and the last years of an animal's life are the hardest ones for the owners.... I've decided not to get another cat yet, but when we have children, I would love to. I really want to share the feeling of looking after an animal with my kids. It's a very hard job, but so rewarding... :)
EPbabe December 28, 2007, 03:24 PM kids (when you have them) will nag you for lots of different pets; goldfish, hamsters, rabbits, mice etc. these animals need more attention then a cat, who quite independant, wouldn't you say?
I'm a cat person so cat is what they'll get :D:cool:

:p
I think we should start a (highly ungreatful) worst presents you recieved thread. I have been given some lovely stuff, but some god awful things as well, including a tea towel with the most vomit inducing cat poem in the world ever (so bad I refuse to have it in my flat) and...I'll save the rest for the thread!
Codreanu December 30, 2007, 04:20 AM A double decker bus.
No really, Clippers bought me a double decker bus for Christmas.
Isn't that the most romantic thing you ever heard?
It's parked under the Christmas tree. :p

EPbabe January 6, 2008, 08:50 PM So, you got all you wanted for Christmas?
Well, she's got everything now...
suparni January 6, 2008, 09:16 PM Oh yes! I got much more than I wanted or thought I would get for Christmas. I did not even ask for these things. My folks have a house in fiji that I have never seen because I was always working here or in India. I never had the money to go there or the space to take off from building my business. My grandparents are very old now and they were also in fiji. I have not seen them for at least 7 years... same with my aunt and uncle... My folks figure it might be the last time we can all really get together there so they invited me and I accepted. Of course they wouldn't want to invite me and force me to spend money (something I hardly ever do much of) and so they bought me scuba and kayak trips.
My mom got a new video ipod so she gave me her old one which is hardly used. My sis gave me the gift certificate. It was really nice to spend time with them and I was astonished that they gave me so much. There was a long time that I was completely out of the family will even.
When my mom offered me new teeth I almost cried because it is really embarrassing not being able to afford replacement crowns when it is your two front teeth. I lost them when I was a kid skateboarding and they only last 10 years or so before you start looking like a drug addict. I wasn't really THAT concerned about it but my folks don't want their daughter walking around looking like a junkie I guess (i am exaggerating but the new teeth do look ten times better.)
Many years I received nothing for xmas or my birthday and I wasn't even sure I would inherit a red cent because we disagreed on pretty fundamental things. This was definitely a surprise and I really needed a vacation. Spending time with my old french grandparents was really food for the soul. I needed it and I am super super lucky this year for sure!
and I can show my teeth so... :D
suparni January 6, 2008, 09:21 PM Well, she's got everything now...
HA! I did get nice gifts indeed but it doesn't mean I personally am not broke! And why is that you ask?
I never had a job because I never wanted one.
and with those teeth I had some saw me smile but they never really saw me laugh...
:D
