I did not take this one, but found it while viewing some other photos on Flickr. It reminded me of Suparni's barn photo! http://www.flickr.com/photos/swanksalot/1921144005/ Corrissey December 10, 2007, 01:30 AM Excellent. However... you should give them the seedy underbelly of Long Island life. Such topics include 1 - The mall walkers at Roosevelt Field. 2 - The difference between Stewart Avenue as you go from Garden City to Hempstead. (Giant shrubbery fences closing in expensive homes to check cashing, bodega, gun store and liquor store) 3 - How Amityville High School looks like a prison from the outside. 4 - Massapequa Massapequa Massapequa in all of it's glory 5 - On a serious note Old Bethpage Restoration Village 6 - Jones Beach Field 4 during "Greek Week" and the police security that goes along with it. suparni December 10, 2007, 05:37 AM where are your pics Pregs? post! It looks like a painting, or a still from some dream sequence. For some reason, it makes me think of Peter Pan. Thanks. Nice to get different interpretations. It's a bit of a handicap being a professional photographer who hates showing his pictures to others ! suparni December 10, 2007, 02:54 PM Aww,thanks very much. I usually hate showing my photos. What is it you like about it? Thanks again :) There is so much I like about this photo... First - light. It is a good time of day in terms of the position of the sun and the mist down on the ground - something about morning dew. I love that there are silhouettes in layers.... layers of silhouette and the mist makes it all dreamy - the light combined with layers of silhouette, mist, and general dreaminess makes one wonder where those people are headed and what they are thinking or what their faces look like - I admit one does half expect an elf or peter pan or mythical appearance to them... and for me that is FANTASTIC and HALF expectation of this is just enough... because one can at the same time imagine this is happening in our everyday world... and it is nice when those two worlds kind of rub up against one another - nice work. PregnantForTheLastTime December 10, 2007, 03:00 PM I will get around to posting some of my pictures, really- in the meantime, how cute that both my doggies are represented here! Lookalikes, anyway. snapyou December 10, 2007, 03:06 PM I love this one of yours, suparni : http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u235/snapyou/contactfly.jpg I like the endless void-like black.Just what is waiting for that fly? Just a feeling I have come to recognize ;) - like filling up with helium and drifting away. Not that these spaces are not interesting and beautiful, but they do not fit into daily western everyday living from what I have seen... skipping work to ride your bike all day too many days in a row just doesn't work out. So I booked a few vacations so I could allow my mental vacation to happen smoothly. I dove into SMiLE in the past few days and perhaps because I am a bit helium right now, I wanted to make a visual sequence to accompany it. It is probably a project that would drive me into lala land so its a good thing I don't have time for it and I am being shipped off to the beaches of fiji instead. I did however make one slideshow with video ending to Surf's up... in celebration of my departure. ciao all... Oscar particularly liked the door and the window of the mission calling it, "the finest he had seen in America." The picture is the Rose Window which he was referring to. India was incredible and amazing and I think it would be amazing for just about anybody where I went. Unfortunately I did not pick up my camera even once - I spent the entire time intensely involved with a Tai Chi sword and learning the sword form. but I am reading this at the moment and thought you might like the quote. Sometimes returning from a trip is like returning from a dream... but this time it feels as if I can integrate some of what I feel and practice there... into my everyday living... nonetheless an acute appreciation for all things deep and beautiful seems to be upon me- hence my quoting Mr. Oscar Wilde today: "There are few of us who have not sometimes wakened before dawn, either after one of those dreamless nights that make us almost enamoured of death, or one of those nights of horror and misshapen joy, when through the chambers of the brain sweep phantoms more terrible than reality itself, and instinct with that vivid life that lurks in all grotesques, and that lends to Gothic art its enduring vitality, this art being, one might fancy, especially the art of those whose minds have been troubled with the malady of reverie. Gradually white fingers creep through the curtains, and they appear to tremble. In black fantastic shapes, dumb shadows crawl into the corners of the room and crouch there. Outside, there is the stirring of birds among the leaves, or the sound of men going forth to their work, or the sigh and sob of the wind coming down from the hills and wandering round the silent house, as though it feared to wake the sleepers and yet must needs call forth sleep from her purple cave. Veil after veil of thin dusky gauze is lifted, and by degrees the forms and colours of things are restored to them, and we watch the dawn remaking the world in its antique pattern. The wan mirrors get back their mimic life. The flameless tapers stand where we had left them, and beside them lies the half-cut book that we had been studying, or the wired flower that we had worn at the ball, or the letter that we had been afraid to read, or that we had read too often. Nothing seems to us changed. Out of the unreal shadows of the night comes back the real life that we had known. We have to resume it where we had left off, and there steals over us a terrible sense of the necessity for the continuance of energy in the same wearisome round of stereotyped habits, or a wild longing, it may be, that our eyelids might open some morning upon a world that had been refashioned anew in the darkness for our pleasure, a world in which things would have fresh shapes and colours, and be changed, or have other secrets, a world in which the past would have little or no place, or survive, at any rate, in no conscious form of obligation or regret, the remembrance even of joy having its bitterness and the memories of pleasure their pain." I told him I'm testing my new camera and taking a picture of the bridge. He said, "of that? you're wasting your film." I'm usually reserved and won't talk back but this guy just pissed me off. I told him "fuck off and mind your own business. And it's not film." He said, "what did you say?" i told him he knew what i was taking a picture of and only asked me so he can express his negativity. he walked away and said, "you're still wasting your film." and of course i say "it's not film!!." the asshole http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i189/kryszrich/bridge_small.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i189/kryszrich/detroit_help_small.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i189/kryszrich/flowercloseup_small.jpg lottie September 8, 2008, 11:20 PM I wont claim that my photos are any good but i like them, this was a tree in st stephens square (park) in dublin i adore its gnarleyness.. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y174/lottieisthequarry/random%20non%20moz/017.jpg I wasn't aiming to get this gull 'action shot' came out well considering...(good reflections) http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y174/lottieisthequarry/random%20non%20moz/021.jpg wells cathedral, march 2007 http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y174/lottieisthequarry/random%20non%20moz/holidaypictures105.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y174/lottieisthequarry/random%20non%20moz/holidaypictures116.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y174/lottieisthequarry/random%20non%20moz/holidaypictures101.jpg scottishblood September 9, 2008, 03:01 PM Great pictures Lottie, I particularly like the last 2, looks like a lovely place. suparni September 21, 2008, 05:07 AM I'm out :guitar: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3050/2849212295_436d71089b_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3082/2852738476_4af04930e6_o.jpg vBulletin® v3.8.4, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
