It is pretty obviously Leeds that was meant :)
I must admit a terrible sin, the other Wednesday I actually accepted the offer of a free ticket from a mate to go to see match at Old Trafford and found myself enjoying it...I ADMIT I HAVE A PROBLEM

the Netherlands have to beat the following teams to attend the 2010 Worldcup
Scotland
Norway
Iceland
Macedonia
piece of jaffa cake
we only have to select Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink 2 times for the games
against Scotland, and we have them in the pocket
Norway is the the country I fear losing points, they're big, strong man
hangin strongly on the defence and a midfield with one goal which
is holding the ball in the team, it's gonna be tough against this no football
team...their only goal is to hold the team their playing with from scoring...
very defending and stop the team build up and nice playing is ruining
football in general
I hope the Scots dare to play atractive and intention to win game, and
not like teams as Norway who fully play defending soccer and stop the
other team atractive upbuilding tactics

The odds were well and truly in favour of Rangers tonight. They were desperate to join city rivals Celtic in the knockout stage.
Before the game, Rangers held the upper hand. All they had to do was avoid defeat.
To further boost their hopes, the SPL gave Rangers last weekend off, in an unprecedented move to help their chances of advancing in the Champions League. The pressure was all on Lyon because they had to come and win in front of a capacity home crowd but Rangers failed when they were beaten 3 - 0 at home, resulting in Rangers once again being knocked out of the competition before the knock out stages.
Well rested Rangers have now not won any of their last eight home encounters with French opposition, drawing three and losing five of them. The last time the Glasgow club beat a visiting French side was in September 1971 when they overcame Stade Rennais FC 1-0 in a UEFA Cup Winners' Cup first-round tie.
The line-up for the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League was completed tonight as Olympique Lyonnais and Fenerbahçe SK claimed the final two berths in the knockout rounds at the expense of Rangers FC and PSV Eindhoven.
The French and Turkish champions join six other runners-up and eight group winners in the Friday 21 December (12.00CET) draw for the next stage at UEFA headquarters in Nyon.
The others are former winners Real Madrid (9 titles), AC Milan (7 and defending champion), Liverpool (5), Barcelona (2), Manchester United (2), FC Porto (2), Inter Milan (2), Celtic (1) and six teams yet to win European soccer's most prestigious club title, Arsenal, Chelsea, Schalke, Olympiakos, AS Roma and Sevilla.

What you are saying is that now your team is out, you've thought of a way to support the favourites (or at least one of the top favourites), and added an English extra too just in case!

PLEASE, DON'T EVER COME BACK AGAIN
Dear Rangers supporters- never come back to Barcelona again. And not because your players themselves aren't a legitimate team. No, it's not because of that- the Nou Camp frequently hosts teams who are lazy, boring, who only defend, who run and kick their opponents, and who shouldn't be in elite competition. On top of this, Rangers merely defend, run at the opposition and play dirty. Their defenders are butchers, their midfielders, heavy-footed; and their strikers just stand there like the furniture.
But even apart from the footballing aspect, the best thing would be for Rangers never to return to Barcelona, because every time they do, they make a mess of the place. 35 years ago, you (the Rangers supporters) destroyed the seats at the Nou Camp. This time we have enjoyed no less than 48 hours of brawls, provocation, rackets, fights and common drunk women throughout the whole city, which you have fouled however you pleased.
Stay at home and vomit in your own living-room, urinate in your sitting-room corners, fight with your neighbours, the Celtic supporters (who deserve a prize just for putting up with you) and foul the streets of Glasgow instead. Don't come back here again, because it is not a laughing matter. And, by extension, don't play in the Champions' League either. You are not at that level neither in a sporting nor human sense.
There are noisy groups of supporters who, although they drink vast amounts of beer, make friends at the same time. But you? Not you, because everywhere you go, you turn into a rubbish tip. You are undesirables. And so are those who fraudulently sell, or "rent out" their tickets. These people screw Barca over, because they trade their season tickets illegally. And in doing this they cause massive annoyance for other members of the club. A true Barcelona fan would not re-sell their ticket for the match. If you are not going to the match, give it to a family member, or you could even use the 'Seient Lliure' service (an automated ticket service used by some Spanish clubs including Barcelona).
From now on, the responsibility lies with UEFA and the club itself to ensure who the ticket is sold to. The best thing for all of us would be that you as a supporter, in a moment of lucidity, decide not to travel if you do not have tickets. As that is never going to happen, those who sell the tickets illegally must be brought to justice. But the best thing would be if we never had to play Rangers again.

The champions of Scotland are going to Barcelona to try and restore the Catalan view of Scottish people and their behaviour.

I hadn’t seen this post before…
I’ve been in a pub watching Barça against a Scottish team a couple of times with lots of Scottish people around and never had any problem. I’ve never heard anything serious happened on the streets or anywhere while the Scottish supporters have been here either.
I think the press sometimes tends to exaggerate news, specially when is something related to Barcelona and comes from a newspaper of Madrid, like this one :D

Barcelona's city council regulation was not put into practice against the 10,000 Glasgow Rangers fans who were strolling the city last Tuesday and Wednesday to prevent things getting out of hand. Rangers fans were allowed to drink on the street and to urinate anywhere.
El País
The amount of beer and any other alcoholic drinks consumed by the Rangers fans forced them to urinate, any place and time seemed fine to carry out such action. There was a dense carpet of rubbish around that comprised mainly cans and bottles.
La Vanguardia
On Tuesday night, the heart of the city became an immense carpet of cans of beer and other rubbish. There were three people injured by knives as a result of a row between themselves.
El País
The mayor of Barcelona, Jordi Hereu, affirmed yesterday that even though the security measures implemented last Thursday against Glasgow Rangers fans, who were drinking and urinating on the street, prevented public disorder, new measures will have to be taken so hooligans will not invade the city in the future.
Hereu explained yesterday that the security and the city circulation departments of the council are negotiating with different sport organizations (UEFA and clubs) and the Ministry of Home Affairs of Catalonia in order to look for alternatives that will put all the football fans "that visit Barcelona and come to make bad use of the city" in isolated areas.
El Mundo
Barcelona has been the scenario for a regrettable spectacle. Thousands of Scottish people were camping in the centre of the city drinking quickly pints of beer and urinating on the streets with complete impunity. This has become a degrading image that makes us despise the people who have been disrespectful to us.
La Vanguardia
The large amount of hooligans from Glasgow Rangers in Barcelona has produced a new political debate in order to save the centre of the city from the progressive overcrowding.
El Periódico
A supermarket in La Rambla was left without the hooligans' favourite drink for two consecutive days and barrels of beer were emptied very quickly in bars in the centre of Barcelona. Beer was almost more wanted than a ticket for the match for the 20,000 hooligans who came to Barcelona.
Qué! Barcelona
The above extracts are just a sample of the debate in the Catalonian media following Rangers visit in November, after which, Stuttgart fans, who have an exemplary international reputation, were on the receiving end of a backlash from police and a local authority keen to take effective action.
To make matters worse, local elections are being held in Catalonia the week Celtic play there, giving the authorities every incentive to show their mettle.
The experiences from recent visits with Celtic to Barcelona will be very different next month, as the policing and security procedures will be very different.
Celtic and FC Barcelona are making an effort to assure the authorities that Celtic fans are a different proposition to Rangers fans.
Pretty much every visiting team to Barcelona are a different proposition to Rangers fans, however, this did not help lower the state of alert for the visit of Stuttgart.
Celtic fans are unsure of how to prepare to follow Rangers fans into Barcelona, as they expect many potentially contentious actions will be taken after participating in judgement-altering libations, but being forewarned of the likely reception is as good a place to start as any.
Although a lot of ordinary citizens in Barcelona are drawing distinctions between Celtic and Rangers. This will have no bearing on how the officials treat the Celtic fans.
The number of Stuttgart fans fined on the spot for "public order offences" (mostly of the drinking and bladder-relieving variety) was in the three figures, even though there was absolutely no bother.
The number of Celtic fans thought to be travelling without a ticket has dropped massivley due to a the fear of a backlash from over zealous police. It is now thought that only 8,000 will travel. Too many people scared they wont be able to find a toilet and end up finding a fine.
On the funny side. I've heard of Celtic fans suggesting blue bags are brought over from Scotland to put rubbish created in to.
I've decided I'm not going. I'm going to wait until the final.

Theyre nice, or at least they dont appear on TV as much as the Scottish. Normally its just when Barça has to play against a Scottish team when people, press, police, etc. are scared because their supporters are apparently more problematic than any others. I suppose its because they travel en masse and many of them without tickets for the match and they finish with all the beer stock of Barcelona every time they come here :D

Celtic thank the people of Barcelona:
CELTIC Football Club have thanked the people of Barcelona for once again playing host to the club and its supporters when they meet FC Barcelona on March 4 in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
Celtic and Barcelona have met twice in recent years in March 2004 in the UEFA Cup and then in November of the same year in the UEFA Champions League.
And both of those occasions, the people of Barcelona have been the perfect hosts, welcoming Celtic supporters to their city. The games also strengthened the bonds between both clubs.
Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell said: We are delighted to be making another trip to Barcelona, one of Europes finest cities. We would like to thank the people of Barcelona in advance for once again hosting our club and our fans in their great city.
In recent years, our fans have travelled to the city and enjoyed tremendous hospitality and a very warm welcome from the Barcelona residents.
Once again our fans will travel to Barcelona, looking to enjoy the city, to enjoy football and to represent their club in a positive and friendly spirit.
Our fans will be looking to support their team in a positive manner, to respect the city and at the same time make more friends as they always do when they travel.
We are pleased that our supporters have developed a reputation for excellent behaviour when they travel to matches throughout Europe.
In 2003, our fans were awarded the official Fair Play Awards from both FIFA and UEFA in recognition of their excellent conduct at the UEFA Cup final, when 80,000 fans travelled to Seville.
Celtic has been fortunate to have developed a great relationship with FC Barcelona. We have very similar histories as football clubs and in recent years have become very close. Like Barcelona, Celtic is different - much more than just a football club.
Many Celtic supporters travel to Barcelona to watch the Barca team. We know many stories of Celtic fans travelling to the Camp Nou to watch Barca matches in recent years, particularly after Henrik Larsson signed for Barcelona.
We hope this great relationship with Barcelona continues. We look forward to welcoming all Barcelona supporters to Glasgow for the match on February 20 and we look forward to making our visit in March.

BARCELONA will invite 5000 Celtic fans to a sunshine street party when they arrive for a Champions League match next month.
Civic officials have set up a special Fan Zone at the Plaza De Espana, near the city's Olympic stadium, for the clash on March 4.
It is understood Barcelona decided to introduce the Fan Zone after locals were angered by the behaviour of a visiting Rangers fans last year.
Fearing fans of their city rivals may behave similarly, Officials have also taken the unusual step of taking out an advert in the Scottish press.
It reads: "During your stay in Barcelona, remember that the action is on the pitch and not in the street. Please help us keep the host city as clean and tidy as you find it.
"Whoever wins on the pitch, we can't let the city lose."
But last night, doubts were cast on how many fans of the Scottish club would turn up.
The Fan Zone will be on the edge of the city, far from the bars and restaurants of the famed Las Ramblas.
One fan said: "It looks as if the authorities are trying to keep the fans out of the city. But you can't force supporters to spend time on the outskirts of Barcelona if they don't want to."
Locals were angry when Rangers fans turned up in vast numbers in November for a Champions League match. City papers were full of reports of drunken antics and public urinating.
Barcelona Mayor Jordi Hereu wrote to Britain's Consul General in the city, deploring the conduct of the Rangers fans.
A spokesman for the Foreign Office said: "There was a meeting this week, involving Celtic, Barcelona, Strathclyde Police, the Foreign Office and the Spanish authorities.
"It is unusual for the Spanish to see football supporters taking their tops off and drinking large quantities of alcohol.
"All parties are now looking at ways fans can enjoy themselves without causing offence to the locals."
Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell has taken the unusual step of thanking Barcelona in advance of the trip.
He said: "Our fans will be looking to support their team in a positive manner, to respect the city and at the same time makemore friends.
"We know many stories of Celtic fans travelling to watch Barca matches in recent years, particularly after Henrik Larsson signed for Barcelona.
"We hope this great relationship continues."

I'm very proud of Celtic. To make it to the last 16 in the CL. A Barcelona player costs more than the entire Celtic team. Our back four cost £500,000. It was a pleasure to watch such a great team and to meet such great fans.

Thanks M23! I can see that it's true you are one of the best supporters of the world, not like others...
But as you said, this is not finished yet... so don't congratulate us until 4th March ;)
On the way from the stadium to my car I passed the last Barça fans leaving Celtic Park. Both sets of fans were mixing in a mutual appreciation society type way. It was fun to sing songs with them and hear the Spanish accent in Celtic songs. That included Celtic fans singing 'Celteek!', mimicking our newly aquatinted Catalan friends.
This was meant to be a photo but after a couple of failed attempts, I switched to video. I took some more but regret not thinking to do that earlier.

I've always had affection for Liverpool, and more nowadays that it's Spanish Liverpool (whether you like it or not), but people like you make me lose that affection. I hope Inter beats you in two weeks in their stadium, and if not, I hope next team do it, and I would be very happy if it's Barça.

Well done to Schalke! Porto will never be forgiven for their cheating in the UEFA cup final, 2003. Nor will Deco the diver but I do wish his current team all the best.
Well done to Barcelona for managing to beat silky Celtic.:)
Well done to Celtic fans for keeping Barcelona beautiful. For those who don't know, Celtic fans brought with them white bin liners with the slogan "Celtic Fans....keeping Barcelona beautiful" written in green.
Well done also to Roma, Fenerbahçe, Chelsea, Man utd, Arsenal and good luck to Liverpool.
Well done also to Rangers for their unexpected success in the UEFA cup.
While I'm posting on the UEFA cup, I would like to highlight something stupid about the coefficient points system and why it needs to be reviewed:
Although Celtic progressed from the Champions League group stage. The six teams who finished in third place in the UEFA group stage have already earned more coefficient points than Celtic this season.
It is easier to gain points in the Uefa Cup than in the Champions League, yet a win is worth the same points in either tournament, which makes it difficult for solid Champions League performers to be seeded higher than teams they regularly beat. For example, Celtic with Benfica. Benfica have lost out in the Champions League to Celtic two seasons in a row but have earned more coefficient points in each season.
A couple of years ago, Romanian teams earned the highest country ranking in Europe, despite Steaua Bucharest, their only Champions League entrants, falling to Rosenborg in the third qualifying round.

The team you support wouldn't have been seeded so highly in the Champions League for the past two years if it wasn't for their run to the Uefa Cup Final in the 2003/03 season and the following season's decent run. Therefore it would be unlikely they would have qualified to the last sixteen in the Champions League two seasons in a row.

Well done Liverpool. Well done to England too, for having a record four teams in the Champions League quarterfinal draw. Since the maximum number of teams from one country rose to four in the 1999-2000 Champions League, no nation had previously seen all its representatives reach the last eight.
"It shows the quality of the Premier League and especially the quality of the top four.'' said Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez
It also demonstrates the financial muscle of a league that's been boosted by record broadcasting contracts over the past decade. The English quartet were all ranked in the top eight of a list of the highest-earning soccer clubs.
If an English team win it. I hope it is Liverpool. It would be nice if Fenerbahçe or Schalke won it but the clever money must be on Barcelona. The team that put Celtic out normally do.

BSkyB pay £240m for UK Champions League rights. Expect yet further subscription increases to pay for it.
Uefa accepted a £240m three-year bid for UK Champions League rights from satellite broadcaster BSkyB, a 70% increase on the current deal, which expires in June 2009.
BSkyB will have exclusive rights to all Tuesday games and will have 7 out of 8 Wednesday night games. BBC, ITV, and Channel Five are all bidding for first choice Wednesday game, a decision for which is expected this week.

Quotes by Non-Celts on Celtic:
"The best fans on the continent"
El Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona (before UEFA Cup game in 2003)
"Celtic fans, you are great, you are marvellous"
Sepp Blatter (FIFA President)
Ancelotti [AC Milan Manager]would certainly welcome back Celtic to the Champions League on a regular basis, if only for their supporters. The sight of 10,000 Celtic fans giving their team a standing ovation at the end prompted Ancelotti to reflect that Scottish football followers could teach their Italian counterparts a lesson in loving the game. This is what we need in Italy, this type of environment, the Milan coach said. This was the essence of sport. To hear the Celtic fans singing and chanting after the game was incredible.
Ancelotti (AC Milan Manager 2007, Fri. March 9th London Times).
'The Greatest Team on Earth'
Local billing for Celtic on a visit to the Midlands in the 1890s
"Rangers or Celtic?
My first feeling was Celtic. When I was 13 years old I saw for the first time in my life a European Cup final - Inter against Celtic. That image is, even today, clear in my mind; that day, that game, Jimmy Johnston, Riva... I was so impressed. When I was in Mozambique, far away from football in Europe, I always remembered that day and that team. Especially because when they started to play in the national stadium in Portugal I thought Celtic were Sporting Lisbon because they dressed like Sporting."
Carlos Quieroz (Man U assistant manager)
William Gaillard (UEFA's director of communications and public affairs) speaking after the European Cup final between Liverpool and AC Milan in 2007, was asked about what is going to be done in the future when another British club gets into the final and there is the same problems of fan behaviour/troubles getting into the ground. His answer?
"......Well, Celtic fans a couple of years ago went to Seville in the Uefa Cup Final and took over 3 times the amount of fans there. There was not one bit of trouble as all the fans that had no tickets stayed in the square and had a big party. Every team should follow Celtic's fan behaviour and that mentality"
(William Gaillard, UEFA's director of communications and public affairs, 24/05/07 Sky Sports News)
"Celtic, like Barcelona, are more than a football club. Our clubs are a symbol of a culture and community that has not always been made welcome in their respective countries."
Xavi Alonsa (ex-Liverpool player, his father played for Barcelona)
"Celtic fans are some of the greatest supporters I know," he said.
AC Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf (Oct 2007)
On eurosport. They were looking at the highlights and lowlights of the last round of CL games. One of the lows was the tackle on Scott Brown, but the highlights were the Celtic fans. To paraphrase the commentator "you may think your fans are good but take look at these" before showing YNWA (and gave it respect in silence). He also added, you may have it good here at Anfield but the Celtic fans do it best! Superb stuff.
Eurosport (Nov 07)
"It will stick in my mind for ever that after the game the Celtic players were extremely good sportsmen and, together with their supporters, they gave us a standing ovation when we were receiving the cup."
