What's your poison? Do we already have a thread where we can reveal our tipple of choice? If not, then let's start one! Even though I've just downed a Newcastle Brown Ale & a Pilsner Urquell (ugh--it's what was left over from a party), I'll swear eternal loyalty to the drink to which I lost my alcohol virginity:
http://netweb.files.wordpress.com/2006/02/GreatGuinness.jpg
I've nary a drop of Irish blood in my veins, other than what I've imbibed from the Gates of Saint James.
I'm not a fan of wine (although I have a gallon of homemade mead brewing above the refrigerator), and I partake in distilled spirits but rarely.

How about you?

There's one thread in particular (http://forums.morrissey-solo.com/showthread.php?t=79340) that I'm avoiding, not so much because I'm drunk (it's wearing off), but because I may offend somebody.

I drink larger (a lot) but not so much stella anymore (getting sensible in my old age) I tend to drink either fosters of Corona at the moment. I used to drink lots of pink wine, but I used to drink that with my best friend, and it's not the same without her. If I drink spirits,it tends to be JD and diet coke, sometimesvodka, and if I'm with my mum, gin and tonic. If I'm back oop north, I'll drink real ale sometimes, but I'm fussy about what kind.

Me, too, except on one notable occasion. In 1994, my GF & I visited the small town (population, 20) in Yorkshire where my step-dad grew up. We walked into the one pub in town, and the place fell absolutely silent when we walked in an opened our 'Mercan mouths. They knew instantly that we must be related to my step-dad. The bartender asked what I wanted, and I picked the only brand that I recognized, although it was a variety that I'd never seen. The bartender raised his eyebrows a bit, but poured it anyway. After I'd returned home and told my step-dad about the adventure, he burst out laughing. He told me that that stuff was an anniversary brew that was quite out of date, and that the pub couldn't manage to sell the stuff off, and didn't have the heart to throw it away. The bartender was probably bummed that we didn't stay and have more of it.

In 1994, I was in 7th grade, and I had a crush on a total loser, thank goodness nothign happened out of that! he was rich though.

One of my favorite memories of England was when I went to the renaissance hotel near Heathrow Airport, and when I spoke (no NY or southern accent or anything, but def fast american!) I had the whole desk just looking at me going. "WHAT?" Hahahahahah its ok because it was mutual- esp since you guys pronounce renaissance "Ren-AY-sons", oh how fancy and English of you! ;) I think the Germans understood me better!

The drink I need quickest is usually coffee.

After I feed that jones (and it's happy hour =o) I love any weiss or wheat beers -Hacker Pschorr, Blue Moon, etc. I'm a beer drinker but not a beer snob (i.e. I'll drink anything) Out to dinner or Italian at home--red wine, baby. If we're talking mixed drinks, I'm a whiskey girl (Canadian stuff, Crown Royal, Canadian Club, VO). Some people say "A whiskey drinker? That's hardcore!" No, it's good taste! :D My ultimate drink for when I've had too much of anything is a nice big bloody mary with all the fixins and a beer chaser on the side.

Just read what I wrote...Do you guys think I have a problem?! :D ha ha

Those are yummy but I can't drink them. Years ago I developed an 'allergic reaction' to rum. All those years making a run for the border--driving to Lake Geneva, WI, dancing at Ease On Down & drinking rum and cokes. Now I can tell when there's rum in a drink -my shoulders and chest get heavy like someone's sitting on my shoulders and I get short of breath. I'm a hazard to myself :D

I'm the exact same way with root beer after I made a homemade batch using root beer extract & champagne yeast. I can't even smell the stuff without needing to retch.

I also can't drink Long Island iced teas any more, but that's another story...

ooooh yeah. You just reminded me of my allergy to Long Island Iced Teas as well. Used to pound those at Ease On Down. I vaguely :p recall drinking them one night... I saw an empty table with a full iced tea and I slammed it down...then said "that tasted like water"...then I vaguely recall lying in the backseat of my friend's car, head out the door, puking on the ground. I can't drink cider after a similar incident...I can't even smell it! And I'm not sure if I have an allery to red wine or if I over indulged once...I still love it, but 1 mouthful will give me a banging head ache and make me feel really ill, even the smell of it is enough sometimes...

hmmm, at home or at dinner i like wine. red or white, all depending on my mood, but id say usually red. if im out at a bar, i'll usually start with beer. i like beer, im not that picky. depending on the bar selection, my wallet, and my mood, you'll find me drinking yuengling lager, PBR, miller lite, or hoegaarden, at any given time. i like shots of soco and lime. if its a mixed drink it'll most likely be something mixed with vodka. usually ginger ale. if im trying to get drunk QUICK, i'll order a long island ice tea. (see now everyone knows what to buy me at the bar this week in nyc, haha!)

back in the days when I was hopelessly poor I would drink 40s of Hurricane and Old English. :)

I'm from the Tennessee valley, so it's whiskey for me. Any brand. They are each special and unique in my heart and I would never judge one above the other.

But not every night is a whiskey night. I do not place whiskey above pinot noir, nor pinot noir above whiskey.

Beer is also beautifully brilliant. I love a good, dark ale. Dead Guy Ale, brewed by local Rogue microbrewery, is the best beer in the history of the universe, bitter, dark, and thick, while maintaining contradictory smoothness and bite that you have to taste to believe. That being said, I do love wheat beer in the summer time (perfect platoon with gin it can make). Ambers are awesome. I've had some lagers I liked but never loved.

Salt. Tequila. Lime. That's some high class entertainment.

My favourite wine is Mobazillac. I've even worked in a wineyard in France that produced it.

Monbazillac is blended from three grape varieties, Sémillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle, and is harvested manually over several selective ‘tries’ or passages where only the grapes affected by the famous and miraculous « Noble Rot » are chosen. The wine has a fabulous colour which deepens over time. It is an extremely elegant wine with dominant overtones of honey, acacia and peaches and hints of citrus fruits and crystallised ‘Mirabelle’ plums.

Oh, hell yes. Lambics are the only alcoholic drinks that Mrs. NRitH can stand, so we've always got a few stocked up, and geuze is other-worldly. If I ever get my shit together to start homebrewing, I'm definitely going to try spontaneously-fermented styles.

mmm...thirsty. Well, unfortunately my life is quite boring nowadays and I don't do much drinking anymore. But my absolute favorite is good old Johnny Walker Green:
http://www.broadstreetbully.com/johnnygreen.jpg
Absolutely more drinkable than the Red or Black and not as expensive as Blue, so you don't feel so bad for killing a bottle.

I love red wine too, though too much of it makes mah head hert.
Favorite would be an 4/5 yr old Italian like a Barbera D'Asti or Barbera D'Alba.

Oh, hell yes. Lambics are the only alcoholic drinks that Mrs. NRitH can stand, so we've always got a few stocked up, and geuze is other-worldly. If I ever get my shit together to start homebrewing, I'm definitely going to try spontaneously-fermented styles.

You should've come with me to the beer festival in Brussels, it was sooooo lovely. I had an apple beer, a kriek and then a geuze. Yum! :p

Aw, gawd, don't make it worse! The beer scene here is atrocious. I'm on a mailing list that's sent out by one of the finest beer stores in America, but the mailings are really just monthly taunts that remind me what I used to have access to. The store even did a 2 week beer tour of Belgium a while back, and I couldn't go. Wah.

I don't have a scan for it, but I've been totally hooked on these new Bacardi Mojitos- they're all blended for you- they come in huge bottles. After trying numerous times to make a Mojito myself (muddling the mint leaves, adding the right amount of sugar) this is bliss! Also, I REALLY crave a Bass Ale! :guitar:

No, no joke. I've never had both together! And the only vodka I have is Absolut Raspberry. I'll have to try it. How many cans of red bull do you mix in with your alky?

I'm trying it with my raspberry vodka. It's been hiding in the freezer for too long. I have: Bombay Sapphire Gin, Baileys Irish Cream, Harvey's Bristol Cream, Bacardi white rum.

Sprite, eh? I'll have to try this. I don't drink nearly enough like I used to with this one bf of mine. I'd get hammered on peach shnapps (sic) (they're like candy- you don't know what hit you until you try to get up.) I'm a total lightweight now. But if I had to choose, I'd go for the green. :)

Johnnie Walker on the rocks in my drink of choice.

Not that I'm all that particular though!

I never see the point of mixing complicated drinks in my home (as opposed to letting a bartender do all the work (oddly enough, a chain restaurant called Bahama Breeze has nice cocktails, though I prefer the bar at the Ritz Carlton in Cleveland)). A lot of trouble when drinking it straight does me just fine. But I do endorse the Red Bull and vodka thing. Svedka is my fave vodka cuz it's modestly priced but tastes pricey. I understand Morrissey's preference is the pricier Grey Goose, which I sometimes would like to shower in, but Svedka is usually good enough for me. I drink a lot of rum as well. And this stuff called Ciclone, part tequila and part rum.

I like beer but I rarely get drunk on beer anymore. Cuz it gets too filling (cuz I gotta drink too many to get to the point). I use beer to keep a buzz going. Hard liquor is my preference to get there.

For wine, I generally prefer light Italian reds. White wine is okay (hell, anything with alcohol is okay) but often gives me a headache.

It was hot as hell the other night and we had some San Pellegrino Aranciata with vodka and it was so refreshing. I also like White Russians a lot lately too, we got some mocha infused vodka and it is sooooo good with Kahlua and half&half. When I go out, I usually get vanilla vodka and soda or Malibu and pineapple juice.

My drink is either a simple beer or wine. I am not fussy regarding those, pretty much anything shall do e.g. Friday night I drank Grolsch and Guinness and then last night I was on Fosters (it is the cheapest thing at the local shop, any I can get served there).

I cannot touch spirits to be honest, especially whisky. I had a bad night a few weeks back in which I mixed 6 beers and 26 shots and...didn't feel great the next day.

Love PTxx.
