Well, I believe it's going to be about $200 plus fees, so probably around $230...? Just a guess. :)

For me, the expense isn't really going to be the tickets, but the lodging  (But, of course, worth it...) :D

Yes, the hotel is going to be very hard to manage. I don't know anyone in New York. Morrissey should negotiate a package deal for us at some hotel... I'd do the band's laundry in exchange for a room. Note I said I'd do their laundry. Let's not omit the key word there. I'm not that bad.

I'd cook dinner for Moz each night before the show. I'm an excellent vegetarian cook. How else could I make myself useful???

I live here... trust me it will be expensive. Also consider that you are not staying for five consecutive days... there is a two or three day gap between the shows.

On a side note... you realize that except for perhaps a couple of spoken comments the setlist will be virtually the same for all five nights.

I will go to one show... thats about it.

for all you out-of-towners looking for a place to stay, you may want to consider looking into Queens or Brooklyn...

or find other fans and rent an apartment to share for a week. you can find those kinds of offers on craigslist. they are expensive, but if you can find 4 or five people to share it, it won't be that bad.

Ok... I will add to what he said:

Brooklyn and Queens may be cheaper in some parts... for example though Williamsburg and Greenpoint may actually be more than certain parts of the city. You may even want to look at a couple of hotels up in the Boogie Down... There are certain parts of the Bronx that are decent. Also keep in mind that there are plenty of hotels on Long Island right near the Babylon Branch of the Long Island Railroad. The following are 45 minutes at the most away from Penn Station on 34th... Merrick - Rockville Center - Massapequa Park... there are hotels located either right across the street or down a couple of blocks from those stations.

Now if you are looking for a guide as to where to stay and where not to stay... well anyplace mentioned in a rap video is usually not safe to stay.

Places such as "Marcy" or "Bed Sty" or "Crown Heights" "East NY" or "Brownsville" bad bad bad....

Keep in mind you will be returning to your place of stay at night. This is not to say that our fair city is not safe. Thanks to Giuliani and Disney all the hookers are out of Times Square... but keep in mind... you never hear....

"I wanna give a shout out to my homies up in Lil Italy!!" or "Where the true playas at up in the Garment District?" or even "Where my brothers at up in SoHo?"

Being Polish, i hate what the hipsters did to Greenpoint. every month, for the past year, one or two Polish establishments had to close due to higher rents. Selfish pricks who think they are so damn cool (why does looking hip cost so much? do they realize wherever they go, rent goes sky high? what a sad existence to be considered the plague to everyone around them. they're like a virus.). Oh yeah, you are so fucking unique: liking the same music, looking the same way, having the same hobbies.

But Greenpoint prices are still 'ok' when considering NYC and other places in Brooklyn. a small basement, moldy, dead cockroaches on the ground studio apartment (small!) will cost you $900/month in Greenpoint That's a steal :D I saw such an apartment last fall. it's probably $1050 by now.

You could stay in Seacaucus, NJ. There is a cluster of hotels near the Meadowlands. You could negotiate your rate if you are staying a week. Hotels located within 3 miles of the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel.

I work in that area... I refuse to take part in it. I have coworkers who have suddenly become millionaires because they inherited their parents home have chopped them up and made dingy apartments. I sometimes can be found at Muggs or a couple of other local bars on Fridays after work with friends. I listen to some of these people that live in this neighborhood. I want to walk up to them and say... stipends from your parents or living 8 top a two bedroom apt is no way to live. Get a real job stop crowding and infesting the neighborhood and I want my parking back.

Long Island for me.

How long do you think it will be until the hipsters completely overrun the feast of Mt Carmel because it may violate or go against one of their trendy "causes"?

stay in NJ if money is tight. I live in Edgewater NJ which is next to the George Washington Bridge. I can get to Midtown Manhattan in 30 mins. . Seacaucus is a great idea. You can catch a bus for 3.10$ and be on 42nd street in 15 minutes while paying a fraction of the price for a hotel room.

When my friend was assigned by the NYPD to Crown Heights he immediately signed up for the very next FDNY test. He tells us that the Jews would beat on the Blacks... the Blacks would beat on the Jews but the moment that the police would show up and break up the fighting both groups would amazingly cease hostilities and start throwing things at the Police. He had enough and is now with the FDNY.

Thankfully I am not a Vegan...:p But even if I were and that was the only place to go... I would lie in wait and grab me the nearest sewer rat.

Ah, I just drank at Mugs last night. Horrible service, but great beer selection.

As far as hotels, check out a place called the Off-Soho Suites. Its on Rivington and is affordable. It's just around the block from the Bowery Ballroom as well... I'm sure there will be a good show there during one of the off nights.

The Bus is still running throughout the city but they will be fewer and further between and be even more problematic if you are making a connection. You may have to cough up the bills and get a cab.

All of you are forgetting that you will also need money to eat and for things to do during the day.

I know... I need a new bar... I used to like Blue... but that place closed down... there is another place on Metropolitan Avenue off of Graham by the old Camera Store I like especially when the patio is open... Teddys is alright but it is off the main strip of Bedford Avenue.

If I had it my way... I would get everyone I work with to follow me home and stick around Union Square or head down to the West Villiage... Off the Wagon and Down the Hatch still have the best wings in the city as far as I am concerned.

the billsburgh hipster take over is insane. I got friends there and they pay more rent than me in the lower east side (which is filthy and all but in the city and closer to everything)

that being said, the easiest thing would be to go with a bunch of friends and stay at a cheap hotel and cram people into a room.

you can stay at a hotel in nj right outside the city, alot of them have shuttle busses and/or nj transit runs to them almost 24/7.
also llike mentioned before, check out brooklyn an queens. you can save a bunch of $$$ but you might have to take the train.

.

How long do you think it will be until the hipsters completely overrun the feast of Mt Carmel because it may violate or go against one of their trendy "causes"?

We stayed in some place before the AC gig, in Murray Hill that was pretty cheap, but I can't remember the name. I'll have to try and look it up, but they were like apts. And it was a good location, just around the corner from 42nd St/steam pipe explosion, but it really didn't cause any disruption to our plans/stay. This time, we plan on staying closer to the village cause there's better places to eat.

no, you missed it probably. where i am in (michigan), it was the Little League World Series Game. USA (Georgia) vs. Japan. a bunch of middle school aged boys playing baseball. their faces were like, shit this is too much pressure, i just want it to end. Reminds me of this South Park episode where all the Little League teams try to lose on purpose because they can care less, but the parents care... funny.

Yep- exactly. It's too much. There is no such thing as a friendly game of shirts v skins in the part anymore. (or red shirts v blue shirts) It has become this high pressure, expensive, all consuming entity. I know of 11 year olds who have to get up at 3 am for hockey practice in season... it's bad.

But anyway.

ok im going to try and answer all the questions...
jamaica isnt that bad were the hotels are. the city has spent all this $$$ on that transpo hub for the airtrain the railroad and subways so they are now tryin to clean up the area a little.. just dont go off exploring in the middle of the night thats all. if im thinking of the same hotels you are probaby staying at, they are new an close to all transportation ie. alot of subways and the long island railroad which drops you off a few blocks from the venue..

as for busses from jfk. take the airtrain. its only $5 and it takes you directly to the subways and the long island railroad.
for more info
http://www.mta.info/mta/airtrain.htm

as for hostels.. im not too sure on them, ive heard some bad stories about them. i will ask around an try to get back to you.

i would check out craigslist.com and see if maybe someone is subleting a place for a little bit.

i know you can find good deals on hotels in nyc, even though i live here i still check out prices and deals. check expedia, hotwire, orbitz. etc.

anymore questions just send them this way. if i didnt have work all that week i would meet everyone an give them tours an everything haha

Best improvement in the Jamaica area ever....

The Air Shuttle.... For $5 you go from JFK with any and all luggage to Jamaica Station.... From there you can jump in the subway for $2 a pop. From there... well for out of towners... making it simple... Jump on the "E" train and that will take awhile but it will bring you to Penn Station.

North Bergen 3.8 miles from the ballroom -
north bergen is in NJ so you will need to take the bus to an from the venue.

for everyone:
before booking the hotel, check with the hotel and see if they have shuttle service from the airport or in and out of the city. this will save you some $$$, headache and confusion.

if you stay in NJ you will need to take a bus or train. some hotels provide the service some dont meaning you will have to take the public transpo which in some areas dont run 24/7

if you stay in NYC (including queens and brooklyn) you will have 24/7 transpo.

there are so many different options. its almost always cheaper to fly in an out of newark NJ then there is a shuttle bus for i think $24 to the city that will drop you off like 10 blocks away from the venue. so you could always fly into newark and stay out there.

so many options. if i didnt just move into this new apt with my fiancee(not the biggest moz fan) i would let everyone stay here :D

Nowadays... Anything North of the Train Station is alright but South of Jamaica Train Station is still a little sketchy. North of the Train Station you have Jamica Estates, St. Johns University and things such as that...

South.... eh... not so nice at night. What an amazing difference.

Strong Island Represent !

Not so much a joke... I live on one of the towns off the Babylon Branch of LIRR... nice and easier to take the train to Penn then take the subway back to Williamsburg each day by going downtown then taking the L train over instead of taking the subways from Jamaica or Flatbush Avenue.

if you stay in NJ you will need to take a bus or train. some hotels provide the service some dont meaning you will have to take the public transpo which in some areas dont run 24/7

if you stay in NYC (including queens and brooklyn) you will have 24/7 transpo.

there are so many different options. its almost always cheaper to fly in an out of newark NJ then there is a shuttle bus for i think $24 to the city that will drop you off like 10 blocks away from the venue. so you could always fly into newark and stay out there.

so many options. if i didnt just move into this new apt with my fiancee(not the biggest moz fan) i would let everyone stay here :D

Newark? Spend the cash and come in through LaGuardia or JFK. Newark is perhaps the shittiest way to come through. Ever see Die Hard 3? I would rather walk naked through South Jamaica or Harlem holding up racist signs than tarvel through Newark.

Travel smart.. some people like to be open minded... I like to retain the contents of my wallet.

Oh I was just on LI this weekend, in Sayville. My boyfriend is from there and we go up there quite often. Also, a good friend of mine lives in Deer Park. Small world. But if there is one thing I hate it is the Philly-NY commute. It sucks!!!!

Oh dear lord! I would never take that bus. I would rather pay the money for gas and tolls. Those buses are just a cover for the drug cartel aren't they? The luggage sections always a little too full for just one bus...yeah thats rignt.

AHHHHHHHHH! I've taken the chinatown bus before, it is pretty nasty. one time there was a HUGE group of people waiting to get on and when the bus came up everyone rushed the bus and I felt like I was in the front row at a Morrissey concert. somehow I made it on. but that story's awful. Greyhounds pretty bad too, but I've never seen anyone with a freakin live chicken on there. ugghhh
