Hello there,

Well, i haven't done this for ages so here we go. The first song is 'Noise Is The Best Revenge', recorded for the Janice Long show on the (17.12.2004).

Next is 'The Queen Is Dead', performed for the only time live by Morrissey solo in Claremont (26.10.1997). The quality isn't that bad, it's better than nothing.

Suggs covering Suedehead on Jools Holland. I don't think it's that bad and have retained that view when discussed with many fans over the years. Most think it's just blatently terrible. Impressed Suggs knew Our Frank though :p

Cosmic Dancer with Bowie (not sure which bootleg, sorry). A song that compounded Morrissey to leave the Bowie/Morrissey tour. Bowie wanted Morrissey to fade into the background whilst he came to the forefront of the stage. Morrissey was unhappy at this as it didn't allow him to say goodbye to the fans. So he subsequently left. This was revealed in the 'Importance of Being Morrissey' documentary.

Yes, i meant when Morrissey did the song live with Bowie fading in, like the one i posted, is an example why Morrissey left the tour. Not that the song itself was the reason. Sorry if i was not clear enough.

I've got a different version of Boz singing Kit - better recording, although Boz's guitar-work's a bit clunky. He chats with the audience about the song before and after singing it. I'll dig it out when I've got my jobs done.

Are you saying that "South" was a failed show, or Brookie in general?

Cos "south" was a soap "Bubble" and a one-off and Brookside was the Best soap in its day.

Do you think Morrissey might be better at acting these days? I'm sure they could find a role for him in Casualty or is it Holby City now.

Then, this being Brookie, Barry Grant, armed with a shotgun, would take Morrissey hostage for not throwing a gladdy to Tracy Corkhill at a gig in 1985.

I apologise to mspendl828, but i have to throw in the odd Smiths rarity for the commercial masses, even though, as he would blatently state at the upstairs bar in the S and G that this is a MORRISSEY SOLO board, and not one for 'that other band'. ;)

Here's a live version of 'Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others' (12th December 1986, London Brixton Academy) with the extra verse that wasn't included in the album version. Thanks to Chartres for the gig date.

I will never forget mister.

Carrying on, one of the jewels in the crown of unreleased Smiths material is a song called ' I Want A Boy For My Birthday'. This was recorded at Decibel Studios during a standard rehersal session in 1982, only a 29 second sample has ever reached the public domain. The only existance of this track is on the original reel to reel recordings that were sold by the 5th Smith Dale Hibbert for a rumoured Ģ10,000 some years ago. The track was originally released by The Cookies, and i have included the original below. Please play The Smiths version with Real Player.

"Beth, I just can't open these milk cartons. Do you want to try?"

and the all time Jimmy Corkhill classic:

"the lights, the lights Max! "

I miss Brookie- I'm surprised a crap TV channel hasn't picked it up and re-run it. Maybe I should start a petition.

And I worked out that it was Barry Grant that killed Terry's wife (Sue?) cos I watched the omnibus and the giveaway is only one of the three suspects was wearing a watch....

GET MY COAT time

I drifted in and out of Brookie over the years, but it was hard to beat in terms of joyous absurdity.

Oh, I agree; it had to be Barry "I wouldn't waste the sperm on you." Grant wot did Sue in. Didn't Barry also set fire to that religious maniac who looked a bit like Paul Heaton?

They should have cast Morrissey as a disposable but heroic character in one of the armed sieges soap writers seem to love so much. He could have expired melodramatically after saving an imperiled kitten, clutching his heart and saying. " Who'd have thought I'd go out on such shoddy upholstery?"

Interestingly, the above sounds different from the rough cut taken from cassette. I have posted the Legge leak which has a distinct piano entry at the beginning of the song. See what you think, i am not Simon Goddard ;-)

Ludus are one of the less-known Manchester bands of the post-punk era. Formed in 1978 by former Manicured Noise guitarist Arthur Kadmon, the group initially consisted of former Nosebleeds drummer Philip Tolman, bassist Willie Trotter, and vocalist Linder (Linda Mulvey), a Manchester scenester who designed record sleeves and posters for Buzzcocks and Magazine.

She also became a close friend of Morrissey, who was significantly inspired by her. Ludus debuted on Richard Boon's New Hormones label in 1980 with The Visit, a 12" single. Another single, My Cherry Is in Sherry, followed months later. By the time of 1981's five-song Pickpocket cassette, the band's membership changed to Linder, guitarist/bassist Ian Devine, and drummer Graham Dids. The cassette was followed with the Mother's Hour single and the debut LP The Seduction.

Danger Came Smiling, the band's sophomore LP, appeared in August of 1982. The confrontational Linder, who wasn't foreign to taking the stage donning a dildo and slices of meat (her menstrual egg timer was given a catalog number by Manchester's infamous Factory label), eventually became less involved with music to be further involved with the visual arts.

actually, i thought asleep was never played live before, because of the boot Asleep, which has rare cuts, but then i received the concert for the day this soundcheck was made and discovered this, http://www.megaupload.com/?d=84BOT2FP
i love this because at first the crowd is rude but they keep playing and at the end win over the audience which they resupicate with a loud ovation. ill put the whole boot on another thread

First up well done all and one for uploading some interesting stuff. Out of interest what would a major obsessive want uploaded?
Also, does anybody know why megaupload and the send it thing thats being used on this (right Said) thread won't work on my PC? I'Ve tried closing my firewall but still no joy.
By the way mr Shuan Duggan used to write for Brookside, and during a hostage episode there was a mention of a Moz from Manchester. Alas , it was a make beleave gangster that didn't show- mind you Morrissey is a make beleave gangester that tends not to show. Mr Duggan wrote for Brookside when it was going down hill, he now writes for Eastenders which has also gone down hill- seems like a nice lad though. He once did a one off TV play called "Stealing Steven" I've been trying to locate it for years. I may try getting in contact with him
