I've just come back from watching the Borat movie. I was genuinely almost sick at one point because I was laughing so hard.
I would be interested to hear the views of other forum members.

In the end, I think your enjoyment of this movie will depend on your own tolerance of this sort of stuff, and whether or not you already know and enjoy the character of Borat in the first place. Also, it’s something to watch….on weed!!! As for the anti-Semitic stuff, I’ll be interested to see if the Jewish groups will be “up in arms” about this movie, since some of it is really, really bad – and even though the writer/actor is Jewish himself, that might not make a difference, and YES its funny as fuck.... roll on unclecunty lol!

What was really really bad? Honestly, I don't have that gene. The only people who looked bad where racists and anti-semites.

I think maybe you just blew your cover, but I whole heartedly agree.
I think the word "pissy" sums up people like that best.
I honestly think the wrestling scene with his manager could be the funniest thing that I've ever seen in any film ever.

That's quite a lot of generalising right there. Why on earth would you assume that a specfic people all have the same tollerances and sense of humour?

I've never laughed so hard in a movie (with the exception of Monty Python's Life of Brian and Holy Grail - not that it's the same kind of humor :) ). As I already posted, I expected it to be tedious after a while, but I laughed at every single joke (except the wrestling scene. and even if it were funny - and in my opinion it wasn't - it was way too long). By the way, piece of trivia for you: Sacha speaks Hebrew fluently, so whenever he talks in "Kazachi", it's actually Hebrew :).
Well, I live in Israel, and I can assure you the entire theatre laughed their asses off, especially in the anti semitic scenes (when they throw the money at the cockroaches - priceless :D ). It's the anti semitic people that he exposes that offend me. For instance, are you familiar with the "throw the jew down the well" bit from the TV show? Seriously scary stuff. Same goes for the racist/homophobic people he encounters.

This film was absolutely hilarious beyone belief. I almost urinated myself laughing at one point, where Borat fights with a fat man... naked. It was obscene and revolting, but really, really funny. I might actually go and see it again - and I'll probably laugh even harder the second time!
I think it was when he was chasing him down the corridor, brandishing a rubber fist that I thought - This is it. I've never seen anything funnier.

well i prefer borat then ali G (didn't watch that film) but with borat there is some slapstick, which i saw in a clip, so that is suitable for a person of my needs. (ha ha man falling over)
brass eye is very different type of comedy. it is a very required taste, a very 'intelligent' brand of humour, people were dumbfounded by it's satire. i can understand you being worried, also from reading your posts, why you like it.

Ok, thanks. The way your original post was phrased it sounded a bit, erm..... well..... pissy.

Hmmmmm, don't go expecting slapstick, there isn't very much of it. It's funny in an "Oh my god, we're all fucked because this is how the nation that runs the world thinks" kind of way.
It's probably not for everyone.

just seen the film, and I did laugh, but then I laugh at anything that ridicules the U S of F**ing A.
very crude in some parts, the naked fight in the hotel is one of the most bizarrest things I have ever seen. But the look on the man's face when he had eat the cheese was the best. the three lads in the camper van make me fear for the world and make me realise there is no hope for that country.

Yeah, from what I read Russell is quite the ladies man. He was willing to tell the press about a few of his sexual experiences sometime in 1994.
I'm still waiting for that new Pulp album.

Wow... that was the most ignorant statement I've ever read. Good luck finding out if it is true or not.

If someone truly was that good, they wouldn't have any need to say it... would they? Is that supposed to impress? I know, it's deeply offensive for me to hurt those poor people who keep their brains in their bollocks.
And how do you know these people are lying? Are you really 100% sure about all these people you've never met before? I don't think you realize not everyone on the planet thinks of these things the way you do. Anyways, you seem to take offense to open sexuality in general.

i was reading this:
"kazakhstan has been grossly misrprested" said the conunty ambassor "but has put the country on the map". Erian idrissov admitted in the times. "but we survived stalin we will certainly survive borat" (brilliant line)
"We consider this movie offensive, a complete lie and nonsense," distribution manager Ruslan Sultanov told Reuters. "It's a shame that some Americans will probably believe what they see there," he added.
The film portrays kazakhstan as a racist, sexist and primitive country. so now it is trying to show that it isn't good luck to them. shame it can't be said for the USA!

What do you guys think of this film?
My partner brought home Borat. He found it really funny, hilarious even. He watched it at work, then came home and watched it again. I found parts funny but no where near as funny as he did. I found it more shock horror. I was screaming at the parts where the nude Borat and his director were running about, but not screaming about it in a good way. My daughter (14) found it really funny. My partner found it really funny. I seemed to be called a weirdo for not laughing as much as they did. Am i abnormal for not finding it really funny?
EDIT: Doh......so i'm not normal then......

I preferred Jones the hilarious mimic of noises. Ha Ha Ha Chortle.
Heres a film that I never got either but was told it was simply magnificent etc etc School Of Rock. Urgh. What an unmitigated disaster of a movie.
As for the Borat thing... Public Enemy, "Don't Believe The Hype."

It all depends on personal taste.
My mother dislikes slapstick comedy in general, but I like some of them.
I often wondered why I had nothing in common with mother's taste in entertainment, but it doesn't bother me.
