Post pictures of your childhood heroes - the more embarrassing the better...
I'm a child of the 80s, so this was my first Hollywood crush:
http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Hills/3036/maccio_kk.jpg
(Edit: I see the pic is no longer working. It's supposed to be Ralph Macchio from "The Karate Kid.")
And my first musical crush (Oh, Morten *sigh*):
http://koti.welho.com/tkuusio/Kuvia/aha/aha_k.jpg
And now to really embarrassing teritorry: my older sister would constantly listen to this:
http://www.songlyricscollection.com/lyrics/w/wham/fantastic/fantastic.jpg
And - oh, the horror! - we occasionally listened to this:
http://www.3mal12.de/wp-content/_modern_talking_band1.jpg
(I was 8, I didn't know any better!)
Top that, I dare you!

Confession is good for you ;) . But I can top yours - I actually went to see the stars of 90210 when they came to Israel. It's a very odd idea for a performance, since they don't sing or dance or anything, so they just sat there and said how happy they were to be there and stuff. And waved a lot.

October 13, 2006, 08:30 PM
In the days of my youth (I'm talking when I was about ten) along with the Spice Girls I adored:
Peter Andre (Dear God why, I can't think of a more repulsive male now. The hair, the muscles. Urgh!)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v161/Dupree/peterandre03.jpg
I had the freaking Peter Andre doll. I was so jealous of my best friend because she was in the fan club. Do you remember the summer of '96? Mysterious Girl and Wannabe. I remember those days well. Fun times.
Neil Heaney from Southampton Football Club (The one on the right)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v161/Dupree/heaney.jpg
I got starstruck after standing next to him for, like, five minutes. (I have to say, I'm hardly surprised I can't find a better picture of him online) Even the name 'Neil Heaney' is bringing back memories for me, oh so embarrassing. I had his Premiere League sticker on my pencil case, now that's true love.
Ewan McGregor
http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B00004SPVC.02.LZZZZZZZ.jpg
I totally became obsessed with this guy when the first new Star Wars movie came out but this is the film I remember most. My mum wouldn't let me watch it because Ewan gets hella naked in a baby oil and glitterfest and so, of course, I spent the best part of a year trying to watch it. Good times.
Hwoarang from Tekken
http://guidesarchive.ign.com/guides/13946/images/hwoarang.jpg
God knows how it happened but yes, I idolised a computer game character. I guess he was kinda cute. Too muscley for my liking though.
But hey, now my room's covered in pictures of blokes who are double my age so who's to say that's any better? It's their minds I love, of course!

Sport Billy!!! I had a few "action figure" type thingies of him, I'd forgotten all about it. And Holly Hobby! (sp?) When I was a kid all the girls collected stationary (you know, the kind you write letters on), did you do this as well? Holly Hobby stationary was one of the more popular ones :) .
And the crazy line guy... The 80s rocked, man.

No, I was really only into Sarah Kay for a short while ... then I decided it's too girly for my taste so the only action figures I collected were

... the almighty playmobils!
I think I had about 100 of those + the castle + every possible thing related to them (including things like pots, spoons, different outfits, weapons etc.) .. I wonder where I put it? I probably had a pretty valuable collection there ...

Does anyone remember MTV's Most Wanted with Ray Cokes?
http://www.dvddeluxe.fr/dlp/catalog/images/ray-cokesB.jpg
Most of my teenage years were spent glued to the screen Tue-Fri to watch him and Rob the Cameraman, Andycam, Craig, Hippie Hector, Curtis "the youth of today", etc. Good times.

Self deprecating humour, you mean? "Exciting TV, isn't this, kids? I bet you're glad you bought a satellite dish now!" :) I actually sent him a fax once and they read it on the air, I was so proud!

And Ewoks... My Mom made a Princess Kneesaa cake for my 7th birthday :o
http://www.coucoucircus.org/da/images-da/ewoks.jpg
Ahhhhhh!! EWOKS!! I am the biggest ewok lover ever. Ewoks are up there with lemurs and pirates for me. (And you all know how much I love lemurs and pirates!) On the same wall as my Moz posters I have an old-school ewok poster...and, of course, my lemur pirate Dan made me. Hehehe. :D
I'm currently trying to find a picture online of my ewok poster but am not having much luck. I might take a piccy and upload it. Yay, ewoks.

Here we go! One Ewok poster:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v161/Dupree/Ewoks1.jpg
I heard there were Ewoks at MGM Studios in Florida, so when we went there I hung about for ages waiting see one. Eventually I was told by the staff they were on holiday in California - gutting. So I had to wait a whole year until we went back there. Once again, I hung about waiting to meet the Ewoks, only to be told that they were on a break. I was soooo upset. We told the nice lady there about coming before and not being able to see them and she went about and came back about five minutes later with two Ewoks! Especially for me! :D That made me a happy little girl.
Of course, looking back, I'd have been well fucked off if someone interupted my lunchbreak but I was so grateful back then.
Oh those were the days!

And wasn't the theme tune great?
"Conan, the Adventurer
Conan, warrior without fear.
He's more powerful than any man
His legend spreads across the land and sea.
Conan, the mighiest warrior ever! His quest to undo the spell of living stone cast upon his family by driving the evil serpent men back into another dimension and vanquishing their leader, the cruel wizard WrathaMon.
Conan, The Adventurer
Conan, man of bravery.
With his magic sword protecting
the mightiest of warriors indeed.
Conan"
YouTube Conan goodness can be found here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q14Jpfh15mo). I highly recommend it - if just for a theme tune sing-a-long.

you're not alone! i liked them both (s club 7 and jacqueline wilson) at first, when i was about 12, then went off both. jacqueline wilson's books have good characterisation but the storylines all seem to have the same pattern: there's always some sort of breakup/goodbye at the end, isnt there?

Thirteen exams! Is that normal? I never had to take more than six in the space of a week (eight times in four years). That's why Americans are soft. :( And you won't even get rich accidentally? Do you eschew wealth? Have you taken a solemn vow to remain One Of The People? I have realized I'm not good at being A People and must therefore amass at least modest wealth. Please don't be disappointed in me! :o

Oh, it is normal... it is I who is not normal. I could (and should) have passed them all by now at a steady pace. It's a little different system over here, so I'm still allowed to study  And we're softer, because not only am I allowed to study, but I'm also allowed to take as many exams as I like every month. Which I must actually start doing :(
I'll forgive you, because even I, A People, am not repulsed by the possibility of accidental enrichment :p
