I bought Black Tie, White Noise for that specific reason...and it's better than his cover of "I Feel Free"....even Belinda Carlisle did a better version of that song.
I also put it on a CD of Smiths/Morrissey Covers I made a while ago...I would never buy one of those "Tribute" Cds, because most of them are made up of "no-name" bands....or so is my opinion...
MY CD..
1 You Just Haven't Earned It Yet, Baby-The Late, Great Kristy McCall
2 The Boy With A Thorn In His Side-J. Mascis (of Dinosaur Jr.)
3 London-Anthrax
4 Panic-Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine
5 Ask-The Gigolo Ants
6 We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful-James
7 How Soon Is Now?-Love Spit Love
8 There Is A Light That Never Goes Out-The Ocean Blue
9 The Queen Is Dead-The Boo Radleys
10 Girlfriend In A Coma-Mojo Nixon
11 Jeane-Billy Bragg
12 Everyday Is Like Sunday-The Pretenders
13 Reel Around The Fountain-Duncan Sheik
14 Back To The Old House-Everything But The Girl
15 Last Of The Famous International Playboys-J. Church
16 Never Had No One Ever-Billy Bragg
17 The Hand That Rocks The Cradle-Sinead O'Connor
18 I Know It's Over-Trash Can Sinatras
19 I Know It's Gonna Happen Someday-David Bowie
20 Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want-The Dream Academy
I also have 10,000 Maniacs' version of Everyday Is Like Sunday
I would have prefered The Sundays' Version of Reel Around The Fountain
Could Not find Dramarama's version of Last Of The Famous International Playboys
Hootie & The Blowfish's version of Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want isn't bad either.
I hope to someday get 10,000 Maniac's version of This Charming Man
If anybody wants any of these tracks, let me know

If I knew, It would definitely be on my CD...The Duncan Sheik version is pretty good..If Napster was still free, I can bet I would eventually have been able to find it there
The Sundays seem to have fallen victim to the Three Album curse of Female led bands...although theirs seems to be self-imposed exile as opposed to outside factors like many other bands

Belle & Sebastian have done Reel Around and Boy With The Thorn live.
I'm glad you left out Armagedon Dildos doing Everyday Is Like Sunday.

i think the killers version of "why dont you find out for yourself" is really good and deserves a spot on your cd...
or jeff buckley's version of "i know its over"... his version of "boy with a thorn..." is great as well but the quality of the boot is dreadful...

Can you post those for me...I made this back in 2000 before some of the ones you mentioned were recorded...
I find it hard to listen to new music these days. Because most of it was so bad...I heard people throw The Killers name around a bit and thought they must be some new trendy Blink 182 or something...then I heard them in a store and thought it was really good and asked someone who they were...suffice to say I'd love to hear their cover...
