my picture won't appear next to my posts!!!!!

I've uploaded an image and in the edit picture profile section it shows my picture but when i post it doesn't appear alongside. help!

You need to upload it as an "avatar" not as a "profile picture" - profile picture appears only when people click on your profile to see it, avatar goes along with your postings
