Do you mean, why the name "Moz?" Some British music magazine came up with it a long time ago (stupid nickname, if you ask me).

The British have a strange way of coming up with nicknames. Paul McCartney is often called "Macca", footballer Paul Gascgoine "Gazza", and Morrissey "Mozzer" (and wannabe-heir Martin Rossiter, "Rozzer"), and Mozzer became just "Moz". This seems to be done in UK English only.

Anyone think Morrissey's "1oz" pendant was given to him because it almost looks like "Moz"?

In an interview I read somewhere, he joked that "1 oz." was in reference to his love of baking (hahahaah!!)

Yup, that's from Details in 94. In the same interview, he says that "Moz" came from maudlin, mawkish, morbid, etc., so he quite liked the nickname.

Yes, I've seen that interview. It seems quite funny, then, that Morrissey referred to himself as "old Mogsy" in the Sept. 1995 Q interview--but he was probably performing a piss-take on himself.

Don't be dissin' Death. Chuck has got to be one of the best musician's around. Although for death metal I much prefer Obituary or Carcass anyday of the week(And don't even think I'm kidding because I've come to find great musical value in it).
