================

Ok, so I have a video of Tony Wilson talking about The Smiths and then interviewing Mike and Andy, then Johnny who plays a little guitar, then with Moz himself.

It's ripped off a DVD so it's in VOB format.
Does anyone know what I can use (for free) that will convert that into something everyone can play? Not to mention making the file size A LOT smaller.

I'd like to share this, but if this is a common video, then nevermind.

I'll be off to work after this so any helpful replies are appreciated.

Here are some pics:

Morrissey (love this screen cap i took!)

Funny bits include Tony talking to Andy and Mike about whether or not they feel it's unfair that Morrissey gets all the attention.
"Our time will come." - Mike Joyce.....

I also like how Tony still calls Moz 'Stephen' when they speak.

I think you can use something called WinAvi that is free, type it into a search engine and you should find a site that supplies it.

Post it if you can! I've never seen this.

If you use winavi you'll need the registration details or it'll put a watermark over the converted footage.

Thanks guys.

I'm using WinAVI now and experimenting with the settings.
The VOB file is 200MB and the first two tries, once an MPEG and second a WMV have come out at over 300MB.... hmm.

I think I'll just have to cut the picture size in half, as it's pretty large to start with. Still looks good. Had issues with sound though....
Hmm.

I'm tweaking! But don't worry, I'll post it up here as soon as I'm done.

Ok, there's a problem.

No matter what format I convert it to, it cuts off the audio about 3/4 of the way in.

Not sure what to do now....

I suppose I could just post the VOB file, with an appropriate media player for it (i use media player classic).

Added raw video link above.
Hope it works for people.
If someone can convert it for people and repost it, that'd be great.

Thanks greatly! :)

What year is this by the way?

This should be 1985 as they discuss "Meat Is Murder" and how it has shot to number 1.

Ah, yes, ta.

However the VOB one doesnt seem to work in DivX player...or rather it starts and then jumps around a lot to various places.

The Windows Player one also saves as .exe, rather than Media Player file...bizzarely. Is this my problem?

Actually, Media Player Classic is supposed to be an .exe.
Just run it and use it like a normal program. I like using this player because it's small, I can take it anywhere, and doesn't need to install.

It should be able to play the VOB file just fine.
Tell me how it goes.

(i made a note of that now to the above link now, i can see how it was confusing, the first file is the movie, the second is the program to play it)
