March 16, 2003, 03:50 PM Rowdy Yeats March 16, 2003, 03:54 PM No, I was agreeing with you. the Smiths couldn't have happened without Pre-Punk , Punk , and Post-punk . all sorts of bad March 16, 2003, 04:00 PM > Or perhaps more American New Wave? Patti Smith, the Ramones, Televison, > even some Iggy Pop. i dont recall in any interview that any memeber of the smiths liked these groups...if you dont listen to them and dont like them, how could they change your musical path? Rowdy Yeats March 16, 2003, 04:11 PM > i dont recall in any interview that any memeber of the smiths liked these > groups...if you dont listen to them and dont like them, how could they > change your musical path? Morrissey was a huge Patti Smith fan. Marr claims Moz was a huge Ramones fan. Moz approached Tom Verlaine to work with him early in the Moz-solo days. And Moz recalls seeing Iggy in the 70's. It's all through the interviews and Mr Rogan's books. Andy I. March 16, 2003, 04:19 PM Morrissey was a big Patti Smith fan and Johnny liked her. Johnny liked Televison and the Ramones. So they did like New Wave. Mike Joyce liked punk like Manchester's the Buzzcocks. jack the ripper March 16, 2003, 05:19 PM they also couldnt have happened without ww2 ww1 the ice age the stone age,the big bang.what absolute nonsence, another stupid theory ejected and reloaded.you cannot go back in time and pick out things and say without this this wouldnt have happened.its pure bullshit.no one knows. david March 16, 2003, 06:04 PM > Morrissey was a big Patti Smith fan and Johnny liked her.
