How did everyone find out Morrissey had a record contract with his previous record company? Would he really get a band to announce a deal on a radio show or would he release any info through this site.

I remember reading about it in the Chance to Shine fanzine--I think the December 1996 issue. I think they reported it being a 3-record deal. I know there was confusion about the Mercury/Island connection, with it originally being reported that Island UK signed him and licensed the album to Mercury. Apparently, it was vice versa so, technically, Morrissey hasn't been signed in Britain since late '95-early '96. What frightfully exciting information!
