View Full Version : We have done the WORST . . . now lets do the BEST!
Harsh Truth February 5, 2003, 02:07 PM OK, How 'bout we all pick the BEST of the following categories for Moz solo? I'll go first.
a) Video: I really like 'Pregnant For the Last Time', b/c its mainly a live concert clip as opposed to lame acting.
b) Single: 'Certain People I Know'. Love that tune, and a great B Side in 'Jack the Ripper'
c) Song: this is a tough one! We'll probably get about 50 different repsonses, I'm sure. I'm going to go with the one song that I don;t think I have ever gotten tired of hearing (not even just a little!) over the past 15 or so years: 'Sister I'm a Poet'
d) Album: 'Your Arsenal.'
e) Stage Costume: 1997 'Malajusted' outfits
f) Career Move: touring in 2002. It got his name in most major music publications and let the world at large (people other than us!) know he is still viable. NOW........lets keep the mommentum going Moz!
g) Habit: I just love his sharp, witty, sarcastic nature.
GenderNectar February 5, 2003, 03:01 PM a) Video: 'Will Never Marry'. Gives me goosebumps every time. It's lovely.
b) Single: 'Everyday Is Like Sunday'
c) Song: 'Will Never Marry'
d) Album: Toss up between 'Viva Hate' and 'Vauxhall & I'
e) Stage Costume: Oye Esteban. Very classy looking.
f) Career Move: Proving he could make it on his own with a solo career and do it quite well.
g) Habit: Firmly standing by his beliefs. I also love his wit and his brutal honesty.
Harsh Truth February 5, 2003, 03:56 PM > e) Stage Costume: Oye Esteban. Very classy looking.
whats overly classy about a Tshirt and jeans? :-) Well, I guess he had a blazer of some sort as well each night, but that was usually off by the 3rd song!

Mmmm...I love that look though. He had a very handsome blazer on and fabulous shoes. He was in fine form indeed. The fact that he was rolling around on the ground less than a foot in front of me didn't hurt either. *sigh*
david February 5, 2003, 04:12 PM VIDEO - November spawned a monster
SINGLE - Everyday is like Sunday
SONG - Hairdresser On Fire
ALBUM - Southpaw Grammar or Vauxhall and I
STAGE COSTUME - whatever. I prefer Moz when he looks more "dapper"
CAREER MOVE - not having a Smiths reunion
HABIT - I agree with Harsh truth on this one. No other pop star has, or will ever have, the sense of humour that S.P.Morrissey has
Mindy February 5, 2003, 04:34 PM video: "our frank" because moz looks really good in it with all his melodramatic facial expressions; "tomorrow" is my runner-up.
single: "everyday is like sunday" because it's one of his most enduring singles. it's not my favorite song of the moment, but i never get tired of it.
song: "jack the ripper" because it's one of the most romantic (although creepy) songs ever; my i-tunes player keeps track of my most played songs and this one comes in at 329 times played. other favorites: "yes i am blind," "nobody loves us," and "i don't mind if you forget me."
album: "your arsenal" because it's the rocking-est.
stage costume: i like moz best in jeans and a tshirt.
career move: i have to agree that touring this past year was the best recent move.
habit: being moz! and being perfect. well okay, keeping the pomp all these years is his best habit.
brother I'm a poet February 5, 2003, 05:49 PM VIDEO - (I remember) Dagenham Dave (was quite good).
SINGLE - We hate It When Our friends Become Succesful (great picture on the cover)
SONG - Swallow On My neck
ALBUM - Southpaw Grammar
STAGE COSTUME - Old skool Smiths - massive quiff, gladioli... but he looked great on the last tour.
CAREER MOVE - Oye Esteban... a tour for no reason, other than to remind us he was still there. Great.
HABIT - His gratification at some of the adoration given to him at gigs.

c)Songs: Speedway, I Don't Mind If You Forget Me, Late Night, Maudilin Street, My Love Life

> c) Song: Oh heck. I'll just say Speedway.
> d) Album: Your Arsenal.
> e) Stage Costume: Don't pelt me with stones and soda cans for this, but I like the cargo pants and brown thing.
> f) Career Move: Continuing on after certain albums, despite how much everyone seemed to dislike them (which is, in itself, crap...there are great songs on those albums...crazy people...)
> g) Habit: Touching fans and letting them on stage, that's super-cool of him.

Some Totally Random Moz Fan February 6, 2003, 01:33 AM > a) Video: "Tomorrow" is my fave of the moment... I like how he effortlessly sngs out the cool song as he strolls along with the fellas trailing behind him.
> b) Single: "Tomorrow" every time I hear it I think of when it first aired when I was in college and how refreshing it was hearing something other than GRUNGE living in Seattle in '92...
> c) Song: "Last of the Famous International Playboys" ... I can dance to that anytime, anywhere
> d) Album: "Bona Drag" ... too many good singles
> e) Stage Costume: hmmmm... the 1991 Kill Uncle Tour he wore some cool black mesh sweaters with Levi's and the guys all were rock-a-billy cool...
> f) Career Move: finally embracing the idea of making REAL VIDEOS... In the Smiths days he despised the notion so there are only a few (other than the TOTP appearances)...
> g) Habit: He's got a great sense of humour
CrushingBore February 6, 2003, 01:23 PM > a) Video:
WILL NEVER MARRY - captures the essence of Moz in all his vainglory.
close second MY LOVE LIFE - for the same reason. close third TMYIMTCIG
> b) Single: PREGNANT 4 THE LAST TIME (inspired song, great B-sides), close second MY LOVE LIFE (version with "Skin Storm")
> c) Song: You're right- it's impossible, but according to the mood I'm in now, I'll plump for LATE NIGHT, MAUDLIN STREET - close second CRASHING BORES
> d) Album: VAUXHALL AND I
> e) Stage Costume: Well, personally I think the BROWN CARDY rocks!
> f) Career Move: coming to OZ! (I admit I have no perspective on this question)
> g) Habit: refusing to compromise. (Although it may well be the death of him)
