The Irish are a friendly and creative bunch. They have produced some of the worlds best writters and play writes and poets. They are also very musical and have a long tradition of Irish music. They love horses and have some of the best horses in the world and some great jockes, go to a race-course put a bet on and you will see. The Irish are not mad, firey, thick, uneducated, wild, rebels and violent. There is a lot of depression and self-distructiveness in some Irish people and there is a serious drink problem in Ireland. Religion is important in Ireland and Ireland has been very strict with morals like abortions are against the law, birth control was banned, they didn't like gays, you should only have sex after marrage that sort of thing and whether you were Catholic or Protastant. The English thought the Irish could only do manual labour, they called them Irish Naveys which came from Navagator because they built the cannals, they also built railways and roads in England and there still are Irish builders in England. The Irish women were domestic servants and Nurses. There were also Irish Tinkers and there still are Irish Gypsys in England. They used to have signs saying No Irish or Tinkers out-side places in England. The Irish have traveled across the sea to many places to find work as they were poor and wanted a better life and because of the potato famine they did better in America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand than the ones who went to Scotland and England. For instance English Police don't like the Irish but in New York the Irish are police and firemen and some U.S. Presidents have been of Irish backgrounds.
