View Full Version : This Charming Man - IMPORTANT!!!!

A jumped up pantry boy
December 4, 2002, 11:28 AM
Punctured bicycle on a hillside desolate. Will nature make a man of me yet? When in this charming car, this charming man - why pamper life's complexities when the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat? I would go out tonight, but I haven't got a stitch to wear. This man said, "It's gruesome that someone so handsome should care." A jumped up pantry boy who never knew his place, he said "Return the ring." He knows so much about these things. He knoes so much about these things. I would go out tonight, but I haven't got a stitch to wear. This man said, "It's gruesome that someone so handsome should care." This chaming man. A jumped up pantry boy who never knew his place, he said "Return the ring." He knows so much about these things. He knoes so much about these things.

A boy who works in a pantry.

Why is this important??

It's not important - then again none of this obsessing is important. Calling someone a 'jumped-up pantry boy' seems to be an entirely mild put down of someone. I wonder who said that line in the film/ play? my money's on Sir Larry - it's a while since I saw it. If you know, don't answer, because it does not matter.

I don't know. I wasn't asking why knowing the meaning of pantry boy was important either (I honestly do think its someone who works in a pantry!). i was wondering why producing the lyrics of This Charming man was classed as 'IMPORTANT'!

You are right about it being a mild form of put down but you probably coudn't get away with much then.

Important or not, those are such great lyrics, and great to sing along with. Thanks for the refresher, pantry boy.

How the hell could anyone read those lyrics and deny that Morrisey is a HOMO?

Well maybe he is, but how can you assume he's singing about himself? Not all songs are 'first person', he could be singing from another point of view. It's an artists perogative.
