The way the rock/pop world is today is Pop Idol winner Will Young the new Morrissey? All you get now is squecky clean, bland but good-looking, stage school types, who have been really trained at dancing, singing and looking good in front of a camra. It is not that they have natually got good singing voices it is just that their voices are very well trained. It used to be the other way round people with naturally good voices but with little or no training. What has happened to all the rebels? Those how want to shake up society and change things? or those who wanted to be differant from their parents generation? I am not worried about Will Young getting political or writting great lyrics but is that it? We had Popstars where the great interlectuals (sorry I can't spell) Hearsay came from, who like pop group Hearsay? Then we had Pop Idol and Willy-Billy Will Young the new Morrissey won. Now we have Popstars-The Rivals and Fame Academy. I know their has always been talent contests on TV and fame shows/dramas and battles of new bands. But the differance is these new shows are on much more and you follow the same people week after week so you get very involved with these people like they were part of your family and then you really want them to win or not. These new breed seem to be having more sucess comersally than the old school style people did probaly because they are on week after week like little big brothers so we get to care about them or not, more than some face who just pops up on Saturday night tells a few jokes, does a few magic tricks or what ever, no we would prefer to see what you look like first thing in the morning, magic tricks just are not entertament anymore sorry then we will buy your record or whatever. It is either that or big time pub kareoke Stars in their Eyes they are not sucessful on that programme because they are pretending to be someone else who is a famous singer. The tablods get hold of Popstars or what ever they are always on TV so it seems we can't avoid them even if we want to.Weather the media or the everyday people will be interested in Hearsay, Willy-Billy pretty boy Will Young the new Morrissey or the David Cassady of his generation heart throb, teeny-bop girl and gay pin-up/icon/fantasy five ten years down the track who is to know and who cares? anyway the girls would have grown up and moved on, fashons change and there will be new teen-idols for the next generation of teeny-bop girls and gays who are into that sort of thing. I prefer my music to be a little less clinical more raw with real spirit, soul and particually amoution, not just trained performers, also with perhaps with something new or important to say, real miss-fit oddball caracters artists who dare to be differant, but that is just me. So unless you don't look perfect, sing perfect and have nothing to say and are bland and a puppet to your manager, record company or public then you can't be a pop star. Sorry for boring all the good Morrissey fans I will shut-up now.

oh dear. We need someone new..not neccesarily a new Moz, just someone different. I can't think of a decent male british pop star in years.

Where is pop going now? We had the boy-group thing (eg.Take That), then the girl-group thing (eg.Spice Girls), then the mixed boy and girl group thing (eg.Hearsay-Popstars Winners), then the Pop Idol thing solo artists on their own. A lot of these mixed boy and girl bands are also multi-cultural disigned to apeal to as many differant people as posable you get the half-black looking one, the Japanese-y looking one, the blonde one and so on... and then there is the caraters you get the Funny one, the bla bla bla one... who cares about their made-up, marketed, unitelligent personalitys anyway. They act, they sing, they dance, they look good but they don't seem to mean anything apart from you know they want to be rich and famous and buy a house for their lovely parents and do a bit of well publised charity work on the side to show how caring they are. I thought just really young teeny-bopper girls would be into this stuff like 10 year old girls, but girls right into their 20s love Will Young! and some gays also like Will Young, middle-aged men liked the Spice Girls and eight year old girls also used to like the Spice Girls and who do the Grandparents like?
