View Full Version : OT: What are your favorite movie soundtracks? GenderNectar November 7, 2002, 08:19 PM Mine are: 24 Hour Party People American Psycho High Fidelity Billy Elliot Gross Point Blank LoafingOaf - The Official Online Stud November 7, 2002, 08:45 PM Some of these are just pop song soundtracks, some are film scores.... Pulp Fiction Reservoir Dogs Goodfellas Casino Velvet Goldmine Pecker (this may be my fave!!) Straight to Hell The Crow Mulholland Drive Lost Highway Twin Peaks Twin Peaks: Fir Walk with Me Wild at Heart Blue Velvet Black Milk (music by Gallon Drunk!) The Butcher Boy O Brother Where Art Thou A Clockwork Orange Pi Next Friday Until the End of the World The Matrix Purple Rain Edward Scissorhands Babe & Babe: Pig in the City I Shot Andy Warhol Batman Forever Basquiat X Files: Songs in the Key of X X Files: The Album (mostly just for the Cardigans' songs) Romeo + Juliet volumes 1 & 2 (2 for When Doves Cry) Michael Collins Nowhere Pink Floyd "The Wall" Dark City Dancer in the Dark, under the name: Bjork "Selmasongs" Private Parts South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut My So-Called Life Eh, there's some more, but that oughta be enough. My favorite composers of film scores are Angelo Badalamenti (does music for David Lynch, among others(and he's the dude who spits out the espresso in Mulholland Dr.!)) and Eliot Goldenthal (The Butcher Boy, Michael Collins...). How about soundtracks featuring Morrissey/Smiths songs, original or cover? Off the top of my head, there is: Boys on the Side Airheads The Craft What else?? LoafingOaf - The Official Online Stud November 7, 2002, 08:51 PM My favorite soundtrack of the year, so far, is Rules of Attraction. That movie totally bombed, somehow, but I kinda liked it. It had some sex, drugs and rock and roll, which is sorely lacking in many movies of this PG-13 era. It was also great to see James Van Der Beek trying to shed his Dawson's Creek image! In one scene he tries to hang himself, then slash his wrist, then OD on pills, only to wake up in his own pee. And it had pretty good music. From The Cure to Blondie to Donovan. They don't have everything on the soundtrack which was in the movie, but they do have the European Vacation bit from the movie, which is hilarious. I also liked the soundtrack for Not Another Teen Movie, mostly for Goldfinger doing "99 Red Baloons." Never did see the movie though. English Martyr November 7, 2002, 08:58 PM Good to see plenty of David Lynch films in your list. LoafingOaf - The Official Online Stud November 7, 2002, 08:58 PM Oh yeah, duh...Not Another Teen Movie is another one with a Smiths song. LoafingOaf - The Official Online Stud November 7, 2002, 09:02 PM > Good to see plenty of David Lynch films in your list. David Lynch made my favorite movie of all-time: The Elephant Man. And he and Angelo put together really good music. I also like the two Julee Cruise albums Lynch wrote the lyrics for and Angelo wrote the music for. (Julee Cruise has a brand new album out, I saw at Borders. Has anyone heard it? I'm assuming Lynch and Angelo aren't involved.) swedehead November 7, 2002, 09:19 PM > (Julee Cruise has a brand new album out, I saw at Borders. Has anyone > heard it? > I'm assuming Lynch and Angelo aren't involved.) Yeah, I've heard it...Sadly enough, she is nothing without Angelo, so I wouldn't sell my wardrobe to get hold of it...
