The quality of songs Boz Booer co-writes is stronger than those co-written by Alain Whyte.
Spencer was the best drummer Moz had but Moz loved Spencer and Spencer did not love Moz.
Spike Smith was a huge drinker and hence no longer on board.
Gary Day was reinstated to the band at the request of Boz who promised Moz that he would ensure Day stopped shagging groupies. Fact.
Morrissey will be recording a single with Mark E Smith from The Fall in the New Year.
The single has the title of "The Poetry Club".

Sinead O'Connor is joining Morrissey on stage at Brixton to sing "Sister I'm A Poet".
John Cale has been approached to produce the new album. A deal will be signed as soon as the Greece dates are over.
As widely predicted the new single will be "Last Of the Gang To Die".

"Mexico" will not be an album track. It will feature on the B Side of the 2nd single.

Pheeew....and after all that I am off for a wee lie down.

John Cale rumor was like 3 years ago. You know all of this but you call the single "LAST of The Gang To Die?" If "Mexico" is indeed the b-side of the second single, what is the title track? When is the album going to come out? Still around New Years? Where the hell did you hear Moz was recording with M. Smith? When will the "Official" world tour start? Huh? Answer!!!!

Ha ha! I bet. There are actually some very good people on here but also lots of nutters:(. A lot of the old Smiths fans avoid it like the plague which is a real pity as they had so much to offer.

Ha ha!! And they said Trainspotters were dead:). I saw The Smiths 6 times. Twice in Glasgow.
Morrissey recorded in the Wool Hall.Fact.Read his interviews today and you will see that he says he has about 20 odd songs "recorded" ..not waiting to be recorded.
If you knew me even slightly you would know there is probably nothing I care less about than trying to impress the people who post in here. Honestly.

"Morrissey will be recording a single with Mark E Smith from The Fall in the New Year"

Of course I accept this as the truth, the whole truth and nothing butt, however I must say I'm surprised. I have it in my mind that the two don't have a lot of regard for each other. Smith is SO ugly and Morrissey is SO beautiful. Morrissey appreciates the aesthetic - so why get together with ugly, drunk Mark E.Smith so doesn't sing so much as shout? Morrissey loves to sing his own words - I don't think he'd want to record the thoughts of Smith. Don't get me wrong, I like The Fall (Cruisers' Creek!) and loved M.E.S's collaboration with Inspiral Carpets, but working with Morrissey? One of the worst mistakes Morrissey could make I'd say.

I think Morrissey likes The Fall. He once listed their This Nation's Saving Grace album as his favourite of whatever year it was (84?). And Moz has always had catholic tastes from girl groups to glam to punk to rockabilly- just listed to his concert intro tapes. You don't get many mix tapes with such varying styles.

Mark E. Smith is usually fairly grudging in his praise of other artists- branding many as Fall copyists- but I vaguely remember him reviewing Viva Hate quite favourably for some Manchester magazine- 'Break Up The Family' got the biggest thumbs up. MES doesn't have much time for vegetarians though. One of his more bonkers pronouncements was that veggies ate so much brown bread because it looked like steak!

I would love this rumour to be true, but I'll believe it when I see it. What a Top of The Pops appearance that would be!

Yes, he also listed "Lie Dream Of Casino Soul" as one of his favourite tracks played during that HMV signing thingie, didn't he ? and he recommended (g_d, I'm so sad ...) "How I wrote elastic man" in one of the Robert Mackie letters.

no, they've been saying they have a lot of stuff DEMOED and there have also been threats to go into the studio (and that should have already started this month, but then it got pushed back to later this year).

They do record demos were you not aware of that? They dont just play a song in the studio and then walk out afterwards. It is recorded and commited to tape.

Thanks for telling us what you've heard Johnny, although I do wish you would reveal your source so we could judge for ourselves how likely this all is to really happen.
I have reservations about a few of these things, the Mark E. Smith business puzzles me as the two don't get on, although they may well admire each other's work. And after what happened when Moz got together with Siouxie, I'm surprised he would decide to work with someone equally "outspoken".
To those of you discussing the idea of him singing lyrics that Smith wrote I would think the most likely possibility is that it will just be Smith doing a bit of backing vocals a la Suggs and Chrissie Hynde.
John Cale you say? I hope you're right, and it doesn't sound too far fetched, although I think with his current band Moz will really struggle to get a big name producer as they are not well thought of or respected in the industry.
Also, I've heard that Moz has been signed for some time now, for what it's worth.
And on the subject of the Wool Hall rumours from a while back, I should really go and look it up to be certain, but I'm almost positive that the girl who does Boz's website said a few weeks ago that the "recorded" tracks had been done at Boz and Alain's home studios and then sent to Moz to do vocals. I highly doubt that they would have hired an expensive studio with no record company to pay for it to record songs without a producer, and also that there were no independent sightings of any of the band or Moz there.
The bit about Gary made me chuckle though, is that really true about the groupies? Well I'm glad to hear at least someone was enjoying themselves on the tour. Any idea why Moz would care if he was shagging people on tour? That's the whole point isn't it?!
So, in your opinion, is your source someone who is really in a position to know all off this for sure, or is it more along the lines of well-founded rumours?
In any event, thanks for sharing what you've heard with the rest of us.

My source is an absolute scoundrel and when she says "Good Morning" to me I look out of the window just to check it is still daylight.
Personally I would not believe any of it apart from the "why Gary Day was sacked" part.
Morrissey had a big problem with the "rock and roll lifestyle" Mr Day was leading.
Boz laid it on the line that he would have to calm down and Morrissey decided to let him back in.
Beats the daily "Is Morrissey Gay" debate though doesn't it?

Will do. I'm up on November 11,12,13 and arrive on the Sunday night. I'll send you an email on the Friday before. After meeting some of the other 'players' on this board it will be nice to add another to the list.

Bit of a shame your on the wagon, mind- I'm in the mood for a bit of Hellraising. I'll just have to smash up the Leeds United Club shop after work and get it out of my system.

Well, it does mention him ("I'm a Mick Jagger right now/In a tongue-tied, wired state") but I don't think it's really intended as a slagging-off in this instance ?

He does slag off The Stones (and Pink Floyd - and the Internet ...) in "Interlude/Chilinism" ("He is short/They are short/The Stones are short/Mr Grumbly, with a white Ferrari, is short/Giving you hard looks")

I think a collaboration would work quite well. If you listen to MES on Edwyn Collins' "Seventies Night" (from the 1997 "I'm Not Following You" LP), you could imagine Morrissey singing the chorus, while MES rambles on in the bits between about Nazis and telephone taps.

but won't that be a funny sounding album when you have some of the songs being produced by that guy from the Clash (or whoever it was that you claimed) and then had others produced by John Cale? is the other guy suddenly not available?

Thanks for that. I've been listening to that song regularly for 20 years and was convinced he sang 'ah mick jagger's a wank now' but i bow to your superior knowledge.
