I'm not very familiar with Cliff Richard's work, so I had to do a bit of research, so here goes:

Cliff sang vocals on the opening track of Van Morrisons 'Avalon Sunset' Lp

Van did an album with the Chieftans

Sinead O'Connor sang on a couple of Chieftans tracks

Andy Rourke (and maybe Mike Joyce, I forget) played on Sinead's "I do not want..."

Andy Rourke was in the Smiths (insert yr own 'lawnmower part'/court case joke here)

Alright, that was tough, so how about the Bee Gees?

p.s my apologies to the people on the message Board not interested in this game. Continue with yr Mike Joyce v. Spencer debates.

I hadn't worked the Cliff one out, but I was pretty sure Van had to be the starting point. The Bee Gees!!? I am scratching my head- I know they worked with Streisand, but that doesn't feel much closer to Mozzer, except perhaps for on a Venn diagram showing audience crossovers...

BTW how did your post end up floating around up here? I nearly missed it!

Sorry, I thought I'd start again as a new thread to make it easier. I tried to think of someone difficult, such as the Bee gees, but I figured it out in 6 steps had to use a producer and a tiny bit of research.

Out of curiosity, what part of the world are you in?- it seems we're online about the same time.

South East Asia, he says vaguely. This is my morning. I get the impression that you are burning the midnight oil.

Smack dab in the middle of America. It's about 9 pm my time.

Oh, well, lucky you. You still have all the thrills of Wednesday night ahead of you, and here I am hurtling towards Thursday lunchtime. Oh, well, ups and downs- I hit the weekend before you, but Monday morning too.

Anyway, how about that Bee Gees solution for us mere mortals. I can't fathom it, unless Barry Gibb was the anonymous guest vocalist for the really high-pitched bits on Miserable Lie...

*chuckle*

The key I figured was that awful movie remake of 'Sgt Pepper's', and I figured with people like Peter Frampton and Steve Martin, there had to be something. Sure enough, the soundtrack was produced by Sir George Martin.

1. Bee gees (produced by George martin)
2. George Martin (produced the Beatles)
3. John Lennon (Beatles) sang 'Fame' with Bowie
4. Bowie played with Ronson
5. Ronson produced 'Yr Arsenal'

A lucky guess, and a little research, really. Well, I probably could do a few more before the novelty wears off, if you're up for it.

Not too difficult:

Marilyn was produced by /collaborated with Trent Reznor
and Reznor had that duet with Bowie.

Another way:
I'm actually a big fan of this group of musicians: Manson, Reznor, Barkmarket, Cop Shoot Cop, and foetus. Alot of guesting, producing, and re-mixing on each others albums, and Foetus is good friends with Matt Johnson, doing some re-mix work for The The. So you could go that way if you wanted:

1.Manson
2. D Sardy(Barkmarket leader/MM producer/collaborator)
3. Tod A (produced by D Sardy/ played on Foetus albums/ CopShootCop leader)
4. Foetus (extrememly prolific remixer, producer, musician)
5. Matt Johnson
6. Johnny Marr
7. Morrissey

If yr still interested in the 7 steps; I believe you can do Britney Spears to Moz. Give it a shot if you want.

P.S. I offer my services to any major or minor music publication that wants them, for a small fee, of course

Well done with Manson- I would have struggled there, not being au fait with producers, remixers etc.

Britney...

Britney duetted with Michael Jackson on 'The Way You Make Me Feel' live at Madison Square Garden

From Wacko there are a million routes especially if you allow everyone on 'We Are The World' to count. You could say Wacko/Mcartney and go down the Beatley road, or Wacko/guest guitarist Slash and do the G&R, Lenny etc thing. But I prefer this, though it bends the rules a bit:

So, Britney-Michael duet
Vincent Price guests on Thriller
Vincent Price appears in Edward Scissorhands with Johnny Depp
Johnny Depp plays guest guitar for Oasis
Liam Gallagher records solo material with Johnny Marr
Marr > Moz

How about Morrissey to his beloved New York Dolls?

A question?

> Johnny Depp plays guest guitar for Oasis
> Liam Gallagher records solo material with Johnny Marr

Did these two things really happen?
