I'm sitting here at work trying to function today. I can't stop crying. Actually, everyone in my office is extremely emotional. Though I was not in direct loss of a loved one in connection with the terrorist attacks, I lost my grandmother on a hospital bed a few days before, September 9, 2002. I remember feeling upmost devastation. I had never lost anyone close to me until then. And still the smell of my grandmother's perfume will always bring tears to my eyes. I'm reading a story on CNN.com entitled: ON SEPTEMBER 11, FINAL WORDS OF LOVE-- A final 'I love you' from victims in burning buildings and hijacked planes It's about people that were able to receive that last phone call from their loved ones. It's hard to believe that all that the people of the WTC did, was get up and go to work. It's unreal how our lives can change so drastically in just seconds. To all of you who have ever lost someone, I am so sorry, please let me extend my deepest sympathy. We'll never get over it, we'll just learn to cope. It's okay to remember and it's okay to cry. Love, Peace and Harmony, Erica Jorge September 11, 2002, 06:23 PM ERICA, I love you sweets. No matter what. Nothing will ever take us apart from each other. I will always be there for you. I will always hold you at night when we sleep. I will always kiss you before you go to work. I love you sweets. I will hold you when you come home and kiss you delicatly. Remember sweets, it takes strength to be gentle and kind... xoxoxoxoxo Jorge > I'm with you Lifeguard. > I'm sitting here at work trying to function today. We are sorry, the whole world is a little sad, but I hope there is a lesson to learn with this all. Wake up America, and try to be less arrogant. So, you think the one "lesson" that needs to be learned from all this is that Americans need to be less arrogant?? Incredible. Mindy September 12, 2002, 03:48 PM > I don't give a shit about Morrissey's teeth or Alain's hair right now. that's your prerogative and all, but if you don't give a fuck about so-called trivial things right now, why are you here? don't bitch at people who have actually gotten on with their lives. granted, morrissey's teeth and alain's hair are not the most important things on earth, but you know what, it should then follow that neither is morrissey (using your own logic), so don't come to a morrissey messageboard if you're going to be all hypersensitive. thank you. Lazy Sunbather September 13, 2002, 04:16 AM > So, you think the one "lesson" that needs to be learned from all > this is that Americans need to be less arrogant?? > Incredible. Yes my dear, I do think so with all my heart. Try to learn why so many people in the world is anti-american. Are we all wrong in this huge planet and just you, in USA are right? Your pain is too big to be measured now, but honestly, the damage that USA has done to the world is much bigger. YOU americans need to understand that the rest of the planet is not your playground. Now, when you see the amount of dead people in a terrorist attack (in your country, in your city) you feel that your rights as a free human being who lives in a democracy should be respected, but well my dear, your country has not respected the rights of many nations, and americans feel like they are the owners of the world. News for you: YOU'RE NOT. Now your pathetic president is going to put his big nose on another war, even most of the nations are not willing, then again, like this planet was his playground. Well love, if you (as a nation) can mess other countries and cultures, and put everyone in a same box, ignoring our differences and our rights, you can't complain when a bunch of lunatics bomb your towers. Lifeguard Sleeping September 13, 2002, 02:53 PM > Your pain is too big to be measured now, > but honestly, the damage that USA has done to the world is much bigger. WHAT?!?!? > YOU americans need to understand that the rest of the planet is not your > playground. As much as you don't want to admit it, the US is the largest superpower and with that distinction comes a certain level of responsibility and expectation from other countries who seek its assistance in many matters, from economic development to ousting a terrorist regime. I don't often agree with my government's decisions, but I'd rather the US call the shots than Iraq. Call me crazy, but I feel much safer living here than in the Middle East. > Now, when you see the amount of dead people in a terrorist > attack (in your country, in your city) you feel that your rights as a free > human being who lives in a democracy should be respected, but well my > dear, your country has not respected the rights of many nations, and > americans feel like they are the owners of the world. News for you: YOU'RE > NOT. The US does not attack Norway. Or Canada. Or Great Britain. It not only respects democracy; it PROMOTES it and fights for it. We're not the only ones, but as a wealthy and powerful nation, it is our responsibility. Why do we feel this way? Because people come to us for assistance ALL THE TIME. No one complains when we throw money around, do they? > Now your pathetic president is going to put his big nose on another > war, even most of the nations are not willing, then again, like this > planet was his playground. I don't agree with Bush's direction (and I didn't vote for him, for what it's worth). But this isn't about Bush's poor decision-making; you claimed that the attacks on September 11, while sad, should serve as some sort of "lesson" to the people of the United States. "Arrogance" is HARDLY a reason to murder 3000+ people whose government works to defend democracy in the world. > Well love, if you (as a nation) can mess other > countries and cultures, and put everyone in a same box, ignoring our > differences and our rights, you can't complain when a bunch of lunatics > bomb your towers. The hell we can't! Look, "love," I refuse to address this part of your argument, as it has NOTHING to do with my original post, but I WILL say this: why don't you ask the people of these nations who suffer greatly under their insane leaders if they prefer the US "ignores" them? Do you honestly think that the people of Iraq adore Hussein and his rule? On ABC last night, there was a reporter walking through a marketplace in Iran when some random woman came up to him. She wished to get a message across to Americans: that, despite what her government implies, the people of Iran WANT the US to intervene and, to paraphrase, do what they did in Afghanistan, to THEIR country. vBulletin® v3.8.4, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
