WakeUpPeople!

I am an original Smiths fan. They were all I lived and breathed for the 80's.

But as far as I'm concerned, Morrissey lost the plot shortly after Viva Hate.

I lost interest in him when he released the appalling Kill Uncle (I tried to like it - I really did!)

Now he's just a tired old feck who is severely out of touch with reality (he lives in LA for gods sake!) and with music in general.

The bottom line is that he is still the geeky kid he always was.

He is still socially inept and finds comfort in hanging around with slightly rougher types (his band for instance) to make himself seem that little tougher himself.

And this 'managing a boxer' thing. Oh please. It's just so tiresome.

Morrissey fans (all of you!!) need to wake up and smell the coffee. Go find someone new and exciting who actually has something to say.

Go now!

Thanks, but NO thanks for your advice.

I like what Morrissey does. That's why I come to Morrissey-solo. If you don't I suggest you go and lurk somewhere else.

Why would you be here anyway?

I'm here just to check on how hopeless you all are. Ho hum

Gotta agree
September 10, 2002, 02:04 PM
I've got to agree with WakeUpPeople though I don't think s/he has to be so cruel to Morrissey fans.
To each his/her own.
I think Morrissey is far too arrogant and not half as brilliant as he thinks he is BUT the sins of the present are weakened with the blessings of the past.
Morrissey continues to flog a horse that is long dead.

Again, if both of you agony aunts have a problem with the Morrissey of today, kindly show yourself to the door. If you really think there is absolutely no redeeming value to the Morrissey of present and wish to carry on wearing your hearing aid forever, go to a site with a voluminous archive of Smiths-era interviews and enjoy your tea. You're wasting your time here. Go out and take a walk, volunteer at an senior citizen center, whatever, but don't waste your precious time attempting to "enlighten" the devout. We've grown up and we're fine.

Cheers,

Jamie

Oh please Jamie!!

Do you have to get yourself so worked up now??

I mean, you've put yourself in a position of ridicule by becoming a Morrissey fan haven't you?

You must be used to it.

And I'm afraid you've got it wrong. There are no hearing aids on my person. No pointless Smiths nostalgia. They weren't even that hot in hindsight.

Also I think I'd feel a bit daft going to a senior citizens place - being 29 and all.

I'll find the door when I'm good and ready matie!

You are a tosser of the first degree. I was an original Smiths fan and even in those heady days it was so obvious that a huge amount of Smiths fans just din't get what Morrissey or the Smiths were about.

We knew that all too soon these "fans" would leave Morrissey behind and wonder what all the fuss was about.

The truth is he sang about subjects and topics that someone as emotionally stunted as yourself would never comprehend.

If you don't "get" Morrissey then piss off and listen to those bands that excite you so much.. I notice you never metion who these artists are.

For your information "Vauxhall and I" ranks with anything The Smiths ever did.

huh?

Frankly, it would appear my tone has remained even and YOU are becoming hot under the collar.

Not much ridicule, really. When telling people I listen to Morrissey, the response is generally "WHO?," "HUH?," or, less monosyllabically, "NEVER HEARD A'HIM!"

> And I'm afraid you've got it wrong. There are no hearing aids on my

That's refreshing to hear. I always thought the hearing aids were crap.

I wasn't suggesting you yourself be consigned to one. Merely exemplifying one way you could better use your time than preaching to a deaf audience. Play hopscotch. Finger paint. Coke bottle shipbuilding. Whatever chuffs your choo choo.

Believe you me, I think there are some things that Morrissey has done (or, rather, NOT done) in the past five or so years that have been teethgrinding in the extreme. I just think it rather sadomasochistic for a naysayer to sit around and read the latest diminished returns, chewing out the newer fans to soothe his or her own disappointment.

But, again, whatever chuffs your choo choo, friend.

Cheers,

Jamie

No hearing aid but alas....no brain either.

Erm.... I was going to think of a witty reply but I am afraid that sentence does not make any sense to me. Ho hum. The great American education system strikes again.
