Any cool queer-friendly/queer hangouts in Hillcrest? We are leaving LA in 3 hours, so perhaps I'm asking it too late, but hey, anybody from San Diego here?

View Full Version : Good Labor Day weekend everybody... Me & my boyfriend are going to Hillcrest, San Diego... Robert Evans - The Comeback Kid August 30, 2002, 11:40 PM Any cool queer-friendly/queer hangouts in Hillcrest? We are leaving LA in 3 hours, so perhaps I'm asking it too late, but hey, anybody from San Diego here? hiii August 31, 2002, 03:05 AM Hillcrest is one of my favorite areas in San Diego (and i'm not gay!). However, most of the clubs there are for gay people. Try the Brass Rail. Don't forget to check out "off the record"! (a great record store) And if you like Thai food, try "taste of Thai" and their grrreat thai coffee!! Have fun! (i'm sure you will) > Any cool queer-friendly/queer hangouts in Hillcrest? Brass Rail, Montage etc... Many military gays? Lot of muscled beefed-up peoples... San Diegans for sure like going to gyms... (Chuckles) Food was good too, we liked Afghan place at Hillcrest near art movie theater, we also liked Sushi place called Ichiban(?) at gay clubs area... for $10 we got a very decent sushi plate... At LA it would be $30 and not that good at all... We spent 2 days there at hotel... Sunday we went to Encinitas city up north by route 5... Had a good time at Moonlight beach... Jee, I wish I would escape crazzzy LA and leave at Encinitas for a while... Encinitas and Solana Beach have a great community of artists... Some old friends invited us for a party at Solana Beach and we liked those peoples a lot... Too bad all those Solana Beach art district boutiques were closed for holidays... One of the owners was our old friend, so he just opened a huge boutique to us per favor and let us shop around... Well, next time we will see more... > Have fun! (i'm sure you will) We did!!! Also, we discovered very good Brazilian restaurant at downtown San Diego (Gaslamp district)... I wish I would remember it's name. Waiters are making rounds giving you to try different Brazilian meats and shish-kabobs, show them either red light or green light... and the whole place is full with bossa nova music and Brazilian good cheers.. Yet one unpleasant thing: Sorry, folks, but avoid Sevilla(?) Spanish tapa food place at dwntwn SD... Shamelessly overpriced and waiters are very condescending to you average mortal... vBulletin® v3.8.4, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
