Instead of screaming 'get a life' , why not try engaging your brain. This is the year 2002. George Michael is out of the closet and being gay doesn't matter anymore - not in Britain anyway - perhaps it still does in yankee-land. So why the hell should anyone be 'upset' by discussing sexuality - obviously YOU have a problem with it.
As for Morrissey's career - he could rescue it ,. if he bothered to engage HIS brain.
Tingle August 21, 2002, 12:39 PM Seems to be doing a pretty fantastic job of it already, and without the help/hindrance of a record label and alot of management who'll cream off the cash before he sees it. He has punk values and does his own thing. He says 'F*ck them'. He clearly doesn't need advice from people posting on websites, even if they are much more successful than himself. .
& why is it that some people, if they belong to some sort of club, want everyone else to join it? It's probably because there's nothing of interest there.
Punchdrunk1975 August 21, 2002, 01:11 PM Morrissey does not give a massive shit about record sales and never really has done so if he is gay I dont think its gonna be something that will effect his record sales.
Christ mate its almost like you want Morrissey to get endless number ones and be up there with the main stream shite like Elton John,George "no talent" Micheal and Robbie "Fatboy 24 personalities" Williams. Its never gonna happen thats part of Morrisseys appeal as it was with The Smiths. The Smiths let lesser bands like REM and U2 take the applause where everyone knows The SMiths were a much better band.
Morrissey has always doen things on his own terms as you should know,He has always been awkard and never really pushed his career,Your talking about the man who in 1983 decided not to tour with that Shite band The Police cos he didnt want people like Sting saying he had helped his career.
You seem to have a real problem with Morrissey is it beacause your gay you want everyone to follow suit????So fucking what about George Micheal!!!!The only reason that sexual deviant is OUT!!is because he got nicked and therefore had to explain why he was standing in an LA toilet with his dick hanging out!!
Get your facts right and please dont put Morrissey in the same class as someone like that prick!!

1. George Michael only came out of the closet after he got caught cottaging. He's not exactly the poster boy for coming out of the closet.
2. George Michael has completely lost it. Are you aware that he is now saying he is afraid to move back to America because he thinks that Americans will be too hostile to him over some video he did? Who in America gives a crap about him anymore? Does US MTV even show his videos anymore (more than once)? I know he's not getting any radio play in my city. Geesh, I can't believe he's really talking this crap. I hope it's just a last ditch effort to get some publicity and he doesn't really believe what he's saying. Because if he really believes what he's saying, he's completely out of touch.
Keep this in mind. I was GM fan. I had all the Wham gear. All his solo career gear. I still buy his cds even now. So, I'm not some GM hater. But, really, he's no shining example for Morrissey.
Punchdrunk1975 August 21, 2002, 03:48 PM Christ and you'll admit to liking GM.I take it your not from the UK and think Morrissey was the lead singer in The Housemartins??????????
HAVE YOU EVER SAW the footage of Moz and GM on jukebox jury??????????

I like the dance songs. Not the sappy shit, though.
The Housemartins were ok, but really, not in the same league as Morrissey. They were better than B&S and Radiohead and all that current UK crap, though.
>

I have *seen* this, yes.

Okay, I have to come out of the closet. I recently bought an old WHAM! CD and..well....I enjoy it. SO WHAT! Everyone has their vices!

There's a difference between "discussing" sexuality and then making ridiculous comments about how disappointed you are that Morrissey hasn't come out of the closet or comparing him to George Michael (PLEASE, no) and bashing his career.
Of course it doesn't matter that he's gay, but it is HIS business, not yours, or ANYBODY elses. Why should he tell anyone if he's gay or not? He doesn't owe you, me, or anyone else here anything, because we are only fans. He gives us music, that's enough for most people, but obviously not some. The fact that you're making such a scene about him NOT coming out says that it DOES matter to you. It seems you're a little bit insecure yourself, perhaps?
At the end of the day, I really don't care if he's gay, straight, asexual, bisexual, hermaphrodite, I DO NOT CARE. I love him for the talented musician, the intelligent, witty and handsome man that he is.

You're totally right Person, it's always a pleasant surprise to see someone talking sense here!

One obvious benefit from Morrissey coming out would be to put homophobic pricks like yourself off from listening to him. You are obviously the kind of grebo yank who got into Morrissey on the 'rebound' when Pearl Jam stopped being fashionable.
George Michael is a great songwriter - the reason that Americans don't like him is political. And what is wrong with wanting Morrissey to have hits?

George Michael has just released two of the best singles of his career : 'Freek' & 'Shoot the Dog'. His music is now far more 'punk' than Morrissey's.
Ali Hewson August 21, 2002, 07:44 PM > George Michael is a great songwriter - the reason that Americans don't

George Michael pissed away his own career with that 5 yr lawsuit against Sony. Everyone in the states forgot about him. Now he's too old to get airplay on MTV. His music doesn't fit with the current US radio formats, so he's not played there either. Sad, but true. He's not the only one we've forgotten about. It has nothing to do with anything political. Americans weren't buying his music long before the cottaging incident.

Punk? Are you insane? Neither one of them is punk.
Besides, nothing could ever top Credit Card Baby. Truly GM's finest work.
Here's what GM needs to do to become more relevant in the US: record a song with Justin Timberlake, Nelly, or Ja Rule. No lie.
Here's what M needs to do to become more relevant in the US: record a song with Creed and have, say, Paris Hilton in the video.
It'll work, too. Santana gained relevance again by recording songs with Wyclef, DMB, etc. Elton John - ick - ruined that song with Eminem at the Grammys. You see how it works - old folks gotta hook up with the new folks. Simple as that. It has nothing to do with being in/out of a closet/bin.
MUM August 21, 2002, 09:25 PM Grrrrr!

Oh you're soo right, I totally agree.
Born Again Human August 22, 2002, 03:57 AM >The Smiths let lesser bands like REM and U2 take the

I believe that REM are the American equivalent to The Smiths. During the 80's, REM were regarded in the states much like The Smiths were in the UK. It wasn't really until the late 80's/early 90's that REM "sold out", but even then they never really truly became mainstream. Michael Stipe is talented enough to stand along side Morrissey anyday. "Reveal", REM's latest, is one of the most beautifully crafted recordings to come along in ages.
Punchdrunk1975 August 22, 2002, 08:59 AM Pearl Jam were never fashionable in my book you doughnut!!
You Yanks have such shite taste in Music....Move on to GM or Elton John you sad deluded fool...

More inarticulate rambling from an obvious retard. Why the hell you inbred rednecks are into Morrissey is beyond me? Go listen to your Merle Haggard and Lynnrd Skynnrd records you brain-damaged 'good-oleboy'.
Oh and I've been a Morrissey fan for about 18 years.
Punchdrunk1975 August 22, 2002, 01:29 PM YOU'VE BEEN A FAN 18 months you mean!
I find it very funny that Morrissey has so many US fans when up until about 92 he always stated he never had any interest in the US in any way shape or form.
You never did answer me about the bottle of wine up yer arse question,Why are you so concerned about Morrisseys sexuality you sad sad man?
