Hey I do feel awful about the cash many of you have dropped so here's a bit of advice...
Your hotel rooms are only held through credit cards, THEY CANNOT CHARGE YOU until the day of reservations. It is illegal in all 50 states thanks to the federal government passing such mandated common carrier laws. Besides I am willing to bet that the State Attorney General of (place state name) would be happy to entertain such "hotel fallacies" since they have been subject to a federal investigation. (Thanks Ritz Carlton v. Masuda, don't fuck with Flrida again)
...okay in English, a hotel cannot pre-charge you unless you cancel that day of reservations and if they do, they are breaking more statutes and consumer protection laws than they can shake a annotated code book at.
I can't personally help you further (unless you go out and do something criminal or at the very least get a DUI) so I hope this helps somewhat...
As for you Canadians, sorry the only laws I know you fuckers got are
1. eat maple syrup
2. eat your fucking Canadian bacon while watching Degrassi Junior High
3. scream things like "wanna come to my hoooose? or what's that abooot?"
