View Full Version : alain on da radio
suzanne May 22, 2002, 06:32 PM i actually got to hear part of it as i was getting ready for work this morning. the last part of it actually. and of course, i think i missed something interesting earlier on because i heard him say something about recording an album, but of course, i don't know if that's HIS own album or a moz album. i think he had a fax from moz with the tour dates saying there were no european dates yet, but they still want to do the big british comeback.
he also said he believed that it was true the smiths were more influential than the beatles!
"alma matters" is an american thing, huh? apparently nothing to do with coronation street as the announcer (amongst others) had thought.
Almodis May 22, 2002, 07:52 PM There's a report from someone who heard the whole interview on the Morrisey-Solo main page (as a reply to the original news posting for the show.)

Mr.Improper May 22, 2002, 10:33 PM That's evidant though. we already know moz is cool,so stop trying to be cool, you're not.

Thanks Suzanne.. when he comes back here.. watch the dam's break.. it will be a massive comeback.. It's amazing how many British fans come oout of the woodwork and these shows sell out in like a morning. The Great British Comeback. It will be brilliant.. and a social opportunity for all these talkers here to show face!! Come on over Suzanne for a holiday, see how a British gig compares to an American one!

On a par I'd say!! ha ah

Alma Matters to me is definitely a derivation on an American theme to me. Then Again, Coronation Street is firmly a Northern thing.. So I don't actually know much about it so it could be from there for all I know!

Could you explain what was said about this further?
suzanne May 23, 2002, 12:50 PM > Could you explain what was said about this further?
just a very simple "its about your school..." and that's it.
Lifeguard Sleeping May 23, 2002, 03:55 PM I don't get it - Alain was on a local station in Austin? Was he playing there?

No, he was on Liz Kershaw's program yesterday on the new(-ish) BBC digital radio station - BBC 6 Music - to mark Morrissey's birthday and to talk about tour-dates, the record deal rumours etc. - but he didn't say anything we hadn't heard already, really.

Ahhhh. Thank you for clearing that up.
Just one more question: 'digital radio station.' Is this an online station or something?
Sorry, I'm not much of a young music-savvy 'hepcat.'
Tingle May 23, 2002, 11:51 PM Yes, seems to be just what you describe. I wonder if they do repeats?

BCC Radio online (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/#)
Almodis May 24, 2002, 10:04 AM > Re: Digital Radio (BBC Radio 6 Digital Radio Station)
It's not (just) a conventional analog(ue) radio station being made accessible via. the Internet (most of the BBC analog(ue) stations e.g. the infamous BBC Radio 1 are also available via. the Internet.)
