Amore Horrendo February 18, 2002, 01:43 AM What do you expect from the new Moz album? After all those years, and this mexican influence on his life, do you thing this would change his music, his style? Can you imagine Moz singing a song in spanish?
Ps: No, I'm not mexican, I'm just curious.

oh, i have a good imagination.
hmm. i can hear it. i can hear it....damn. all i hear is "on the day that your mentality..."
how many coronas did he have first? does he know you're supposed to drink it with a lime? can he roll his r's?

Fabricio February 18, 2002, 06:34 AM i think his new album will have perhaps punk and nu-metal influences - he is watching some shows these days...

suzanne February 18, 2002, 07:01 AM well i didn't know this was supposed to be a definitive and serious answer session!
after all, how can anyone really know until they hear it?

the whole point of her topic was "what do you EXPECT?" it's an exercise in creative thought. if you have followed the progression of Morrissey's work you might see a pattern toward the next phase. she of course already knows it hasn't been released and you couldn't have heard it.

i know exactly what the point was. i just don't see the point in getting riled up over the theoretical as you have. then maybe you can explain if it's so damn important that someone like me needs to give a completely uneducated opinion on the subject.
and besides, this is written words. how would i transcribe what i think it sounds like: "be bop be doo bop"?
but i think my first point was valid if not indirect. its not about replicating the soul of it as much as being the soul of it. like there are thousands of people out there who can do a really good imitation of Edith Piaf or maria callas or Stevie Ray Vaughn. the challenge is actually being those people. is morrissey happily doing his own thing keeping the heart of what it is he does but giving a wink at the new, or has he made it his challenge to be a reincarnate of El Vez because he likes the novelty?
or maybe it's being analyzed too deeply from the very start in even asking the question.
jonathan richman sings in spanish. Kirsty Maccoll had some latin influences towards the end. Buena Vista Social Club has sold tons of albums. David Burns and Peter Gabriel have been doing world music for years. so, again, that points out the idea that there isn't just one thing you can do with it. does he want to go for Tejano? Cubanismo? Salsa? mariachi? marimba? rock en espanol? a mambo?

foneme February 19, 2002, 03:29 AM No mexican influence whatsoever. Part very heavy, S.Grammar-style, part laid-back, sparse, not unlike Nick Cave's The Boatman's Call at times.
It's just a hunch, so don't ask.

Nu-metal influences hahaha, nu-metal is the cheapest form of music ever, disgusting.
Punk influences, what like 'London', wouldn't that be like covering old ground, or is it a case of 'the story is old/I know/But it goes on'.
Nu-metal honestly, I wish this country would apply some of its immigration laws to the trash that comes over from the atlantic.
Fabricio February 19, 2002, 02:06 PM people who likes classical music (and i know as much classical music as pop music) says rock is the cheapest form of music ever, so you are not alone in your pedantic conceptions - but normally the "real" pedantic people are against the music you like.

while i agree that your opinion, like you, would be uneducated, that really isn't the point either. the original poster asked us to speculate. if you don't have it in you, hush-a-bye baby!

at what point do you start developing a sense of shame, Mr. Mud?
it's beyond sad that you think you are being covert and that if you play nicely under your "real" name and turn around and say stuff like this, that i will eventually buy that there is someone else out there calling me a wacky talentless hack.
Unless i'm getting you mixed up with Thrill, nobody else gives a shit as far as i can tell. And its the most laughable and pathetic thing yet that you think that after all that i know, and all that people have told me, you can still turn this around and convince me otherwise.
and you just don't go away. that's the sad part. you could crawl off and be forgotten, but no, you keep coming back and reminding me and everyone else that you are the biggest no-lifed loser on this discussionboard.
you don't think i've figured out you were Anaconda as well?
i have irrefutable evidence. just give it a rest.
The Artist Formally Known as "Mud" February 19, 2002, 07:26 PM Anything I may have posted that could have been precieved as negative about you on this message board I deleted several months ago just afer I wrote it and haven't done since, but here you go:
I, "Mud", being of (questionably) sound mind and (out of shape) body,
do hereby sincerely apologize for anything found offensive posted about
"Suzanne", or anyone else on the message board, including the crazy
stuff I didn't post but was falsely attributed to me anyway.

you have me confused with a "different" guy who also thinks you're wacky. I wish I would have thought of the "talentless hack" part!

I am not, nor have I ever been called "Anaconda"...... at least not with my clothes on.
> i have irrefutable evidence. just give it a rest.
you have no evidence. i am not who you think i am. you are paranoid(or is it that everyone IS against you?)
a different Bob February 19, 2002, 08:39 PM one more thing, even though i think you're wacky, i still love your red hair!

Oh please don't site nu-metal as musically relevant in the whole grand scheme of things.
Fabricio February 20, 2002, 12:43 PM Ask Christoph Prégardien or Martha Argerich to site Blur or Cure relevant in the whole scheme of things. You'll taste your own poison, dude. I would like to see that.
They'll see no difference between Smiths and Deftones for sure!

I don't like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones or Jimi Hendrix, but at the end of the day there is no way I could deny their relevance and musical impact. This just doesn't apply to nu-metal, there isn't even an argument for it, its the worst form of rock music I have ever encountered, but then not everything The Sex Pistols paved the way for was going to be great.
I can't believe I'm even having this conversation, and don't take it personel either, you seem like a decent chap.

well, i don't know if i said this to you before, but:
some years ago opera was considered crap music
then jazz began and it was considered crap too
then rock began and it was considered crap too
things change - nobody "important" respected the new kinds of music, but new
generations came and an important part of the "intellectual" taste changed
always.
probably this will happen with nu-metal too.
and you said no nu-metal music is relevant (i agree with you with rolling
stones for example, that i don't like but i understand is relevant) - but
"toxicity" from system of a down was considered the best album made last
year by the spin magazine. I am saying that the nu-metal is beginning to be
respected by "decent" people... and this won't stop believe me.

oh thanks! i didn't expect these words from you...
p.s.: one year ago i hated nu-metal as much as you... but things change...
